If you're shipping them in clean toploaders in premium, they'll scan them in the toploaders.

Not much. Already sold too, so I guess I sold it too low too.

dang, surprised how much the football pmgs have gone up lately. Still pennies compared to basketball but I paid $15 on my smith and less than $50 for carter and I saw the last carter did over $100

Story time:

Sold the 2016 Heritage Minors Rhys Hoskins 1/1 for $25 on COMC before he blew up last year. Paid $5 for it when it hit the site. Anyone know if it ever surfaced again? Don't know what it would command today.

I was thinking about starting my own thread but figured this would get just as many looks.

Can I switch back and forth between a seller and buyer account, at will? I tend to flip vintage but really only buy what I would ultimately want to have for myself, so I'm not stuck with crap that I had never intended to keep.

Since there are two modes on COMC, am I able to switch when I want some of my items shipped to me? If not, I thought about opening an account under my wife's name and instead of buying more to flip, I'd just have hers to use when I wanted to buy and keep.

You can switch as you please.

There isn't any advantage to being in Simplified Shipping Mode once you understand enough to be in Advanced Reseller Mode.

If you buy a card and have it shipped to you, you will pay COMC a handling charge. This is 25 cents on most items, but some items have handling charges of 45 cents or $1.

Suppose a card is $1 and there is a 25 cent handling charge. In Simplified Shipping Mode, you see this as $1.25. In Advanced Reseller Mode, you see this as $1 plus 25 cents handling.

However, if you were to buy the card in Simplified Shipping Mode, you would pay the extra 25 cents right then and there. The handling charge would stay with the card until you either ship it or sell it.

Suppose you buy cards for your personal collection, reprice them at double what you paid and then when you have 100 cards, you have the unsold ones shipped to you.

If you're in Advanced Reseller Mode, you see a card for $1 and you pay $1. You reprice it for $2. You do this 100 times, then initiate a shipment.

You paid $100 for the cards. Your shipping cost will be $3.99 for the batch plus 25 cents handling charge per card. So, you pay $28.99 for shipping. Total is $128.99. On the first of the month, you get a $5 credit for shipping 100 items, so your net expenditure is $123.99.

OTOH, suppose you are in advanced reseller mode. You see a card for $1.25 and buy it. You do this 100 times. You pay $3.99 for the shipment and you paid $125 for the cards. Total is $128.99. You get a $5 credit at the beginning of the month, so net expenditure is $123.99.

These are the same cards, and the same net expenditure. The only difference is, with Advanced Reseller Mode, you're not paying the handling charge until you ship. With Simplified Shipping Mode, you are.

Now let's say you reprice the cards while you wait for them to sell. You paid $1.25, so you reprice at $2.50. But you're actually pricing it at $2.25 plus 25 cents handling. If you charge the same as the previous scenario, you would reprice at $2.25. But you paid $1.25.

If you paid the 25 cents handling fee up front, you'll get it back when you sell. It doesn't matter whether the buyer pays the 25 cents handling. If a flipper buys your card for $2 and reprices it at $3, you'll get $2.25. If a person in Simplified Shipping Mode buys your card for $2.25 and adds it to a shipment, you'll get $2.25. But you had 25 cents tied up in that card which you didn't have to pay, and which could have been used to buy more cards.

COMC does this for several reasons. The primary one is that people used to come to the site, buy 1,000 cards for 10 cents each, and then scream bloody murder when they were being charged $250 for postage and handling.

A secondary reason is that when they started selling on Amazon, Amazon had some rules against selling things on your website for less than you were charging on Amazon. So, unless you're logged in to COMC, you won't see that the $1 card is really 75 cents plus 25 cents handling.

TL,DR: Yes.

Amazing explanation, this needs to be stickied....thanks.

If you're planning to only flip/resell I don't see the logic in paying .25 extra per card. If you have zero intention of ever shipping, you should be buying in advanced. This is especially true on low end cards.

Wait . . . is this still true? If we price things to appear on eBay for .99, they won't cross list on Amazon? Never knew this . . .

Sorry. That's not what I meant. I've sold "99 cent" items on Amazon before.

COMC started selling on Amazon a few years before they were selling on eBay, so the Simplified Shipping Mode / Advanced Reseller Mode was in part due to that. By the time COMC was selling on eBay, Simplified Shipping Mode and Advanced Reseller Mode had already been around for several years.

I've requested shipments from COMC at least 10 times in the past but never anything over 100 cards. Last night I requested my first big shipment and it says the expected ship date is 4/17/18.

Have you guys found this to be accurate or will they generally move a little quicker than that?

It depends on which service you asked for. My expedited shipments have been getting out quickly, but the basic ones are taking up to the full date.

Always been accurate for me. I have shipped 100+ cards numerous times.

Was wondering the same. Usually it's around the beginning of May if my memory serves me well

Thanks for the quick responses guys. I got the cheap slow shipping so it looks like I'll have to be patient.

My port is missing about 100 items that I have for sale, what could be the discrepancy? I priced and put up for sale roughly that same amount of cards on Saturday from a new submission, but I would think after three days they would at least be visible elsewhere.

I think we need a little more information to help out - is it possible you're looking at your port and the number is off because you have multiples of the same card?

Reports like this really make me think I need to do a better job tracking what I send in.

Under my General Account Info on the right of My Dashboard.

Items For Sale 463

Click on the link in my profile, and you will see 396 there, same as when I click on "My Port". Not quite 100, that was an exaggeration.

So you think that's because of duplicates? I didn't think I had that many but it's certainly possible.
