Going to a riot with an AR with the intent to keep the peace is premeditation.

Oh I’m not trying to lump and certainly not anyone in this thread, not looking to get too involved in this thread lolz, just was a very general thought that’s making my head hurt this morning

Not if open carry is legal.

Though I understand your sentiment, it would be no different if anyone legally carrying for protection killed someone. Having it on you doesn’t equate to premeditation.

I don't know how that is seen in the legal sense (we'll probably find out). Nobody but the shooter knows what was going through his mind. He could have gone in thinking just the sight of his rifle would be enough to scare rioters away or he might have been going in hoping someone would assault him first so he could shoot. It's just not a black and white issue with me personally. I try to think of what I'd do if the riots came to a town 20 miles from me. I know people who live and work in such a town. I shop in that town. What would I do to protect it? That's just been my thought process the last couple of days.

Theres a video of him being interviewed before all of this happened, explaining his purpose for being there. I saw it last night but it magically disappeared.

Wasn't the kid not even old enough to have the gun legally? I dunno, seems like he went there to start trouble and found it. Reminds me of George Zimmerman, a tough guy with a gun who thinks it's his job to stop the bad guys.

It's was kind of shocking that he fired the gun off right in front of incoming police and never once did they stop or detain him.

I decided to leave this thread a few weeks ago. At that time, I actually just turned off the news, logged out of FB, and have been basically living under a rock for a while.

I came back to this thread and to the news yesterday when I saw that the Bucks were refusing to play for some reason. I'm definitely less happy now than I was at this time yesterday. That's illogical, because none of this is really affecting me personally, but often emotions prevail over logic.

Kudos to all of you who can have civil discussion and keep up with all the current events, and not be stressed out when you go to sleep at night.

Left picture - guy shot in the head. That picture is him yelling "shoot me n***a"
Right picture - Sex crime involving a minor - per Andy Ngo who does solid reporting

Gotta be honest, not gonna shed a tear for this guy.
5’3”? No wonder he was such an angry fella.

You can’t shoot someone committing vandalism. I think you can shoot someone setting a fire to an occupied building, but this guy wouldn’t know that a building is occupied. there is no reason for him to be there.

In other words, don’t drive 20 miles to a riot to protect buildings from being burned. At the very most, you could drive to someone’s house to protect them (not their property), but it’s best to have them stay at your house.

Don’t riot. Don’t stop riots. Riots are not a spectator sport.

Welcome back! How long will you be staying this time; should I get the room ready or was this just a quick pop-in; back-out kind of visit?

That's a strange thing to hope for, something that no one else wants.

I believe he was 17, so I think that is going to be an issue for him. I’m not sure how that would affect a potential self defense case, but based on the one video of shooting I did see, he was being attacked by multiple people and fired in self defense. I don’t know about the first shooting.

Is that the kid? Some of us require captions with pictures.
