Is there anything this guy can't do on a baseball field?

I have an opinion on this. The non label bat down is better. Yes I own one. My thought is the integrity of the grading for this card will be more valuable over the labeled bat downs.

With all the trimming scandal going on, this card was slabbed without the “Bat Down” label long before it was highly valuable. Because this label cannot be obtained anymore from PSA, there is a high probability that this card was not trimmed. Who would take the time to trim a cheap card? Now that this card is hitting $3k, people will now start cracking out psa 9’s and trimming them. All bat down cards sent to PSA, get the label “bat down”. To me, non labels hold the integrity. In the future, this could make the non Bat Down label more valuable.

This opinion did not go well with some, but it’s the reason I chose the non label.

Doesnt matter. Neither effects the PSA set registry and the #698 is the right card info regardless.

I do like the thinking of the post above me though.

It's been awhile since I looked through my Acuna stash. Made this composite in honor of him crushing it out of the gates. Picked up several of these from members here, some off of IG, some on the Bay.

I haven't seen anything. Am I looking in the right place - "Topps Now" section of the Topps website?

Agree pretty much with the thinking here. As a non serial numbered card rises to those prices so does the incentive to to trim. Anything that dates a card as being slabbed before it was worth big $$ is helpful IMO. Foolproof, no. Less likely that some scoundrel trimmed it, probably.

Topps Now Acuna autos (commemorating events from yesterday) came out at just the right timing.
A bit pricey and it takes about 3-4 months to be shipped, but card looks awesome.

Below is the link for cheapest auto option #/99 ($129.99), but there are other parallels with higher price and cheaper non-auto option as well.

Agreed here and I have no more stakes in the debate as I've let go all my Bat Down PSA 10s in preference to getting the Sapphire

Main thing for me though was that Non Bat Down Labels can become the other; the other cannot become a Non Bat Down Label. If you have an original you can always have PSA relabel the slab for you anytime you want. If you have the Bat Down Label, they absolutely will not change it to a Non-Bat Down Label. Due to this, one label will always be more rare than the other. Rarity is why a lot of collectibles have value, see the original labels having a small premium eventually in the future.
