I like a nice thick card, but I buy it "knowing" that there will likely be issues. Same can be said about PMG's. Not sure why the foiling process on them turns cards into 6's, but it sure seems to, haha.

Sad part about that is you could get all 4 cards...So NAR, Jusko, Lydi & a sweet Fred.Ian. I mean, anyone can go and make up their "dream" lineup for $4k. Those just jumped out at me when I was posting

As long as things continue like this, I'm "out". I might buy a single or two over the years, but most of my money will be used on older Marvel, Star Wars and randomly I still need a few Cryptozoic cards(...AT Sketches, anyone? PM ME!)

I'd love to think their business model will fold under the pressure of no one actually collecting the cards...but when a slot is $5 or $10 or $20...people will jump in. Might as well go down to the 7-11 though, IMO. At least if you WIN, you really WIN.

It's infuriating and sad to watch.

And just so that I have all of my correct predictions of this release in one place:

Fanatics uses EQL on products they need/would like to backdoor most of without buyers complaining that something sold out in under a minute. This way, buyers are like, oh well i didnt get picked.

This is as big of a backdoor as Topps has ever done. 1200 cases made and not a single one available to the public.

And let me tell you - seeing only 21 winners in the Discord is stupid low for a release with 12k+ boxes and no cases available.

Yeah, I think and hope that one day people will wake up to the fact the system is rigged and stop supporting the shameless breakers. Only so long you can go ahead with getting that backdoor and then charging hundreds for a spot.

Unfortunately I don't think that happens unless there is some sort of hobby regulation from the government. And that opens up a whole new set of issues that may not solve the problems, it would just create new problems. Even if it did become something that was on the table, it would be years from now.

Thick or thin stock cards?

I mentioned earlier that I'd have to take the posters word that the quality of the card was better, as I haven't had any TC in hand.

But...I have had 5 genesis cards(Ghost Spider...I like the image...sue me!) in hand. All cards were definitely in good condition, but I wouldn't say they were in any better(or worse) condition than thicker UD cards.

You're a shop owner, so you should know. I seriously have no idea. In my previous post about condition, I wanted to know if they were comparing apples to apples...Topps Chrome Marvel to Marvel Platinum. Much easier to keep those cards in great shape vs thick cards with all sorts of edge issues.

I will say, via opening a metric TON of Marvel Black Diamond...the thin stock cards were mostly in 8+ condition and the thick cards were all over the place. 4's and 5's mixed in with probably 8's max.

I think UD has ALWAYS had issues with thicker cards. Older Exquisite etc. were the same. I remember opening several boxes over the years and they were kind of the same as the BD. 4's-8's, mostly.
Opened a bunch of both. I'd put TC slightly over Platinum in quality terms but ONLY because the cards are a little thicker and feel better in hand. They both had roller mark issues.
