Maybe just me but after watching 2000 bowman for awhile now, I feel like neither is more rare than the other but the bowman is more condition sensitive...and just nicer to look at compared to the chrome. Maybe I’m crazy.

I'm seeing something unusual with two other Champ Tix up for sale right now. The autos are slightly different (good I guess), the serials are different (good also), but they both have the flaking defect in the gold area near the word "Contenders". Not saying these are fakes, just wondering if anyone else has seen this print defect. Maybe debris on the press when this occurred? The serials are really wide apart so I'm not sure if this is a sequential error. Thoughts?

Brian, my champ ticket is like that too. That's pretty common. At first I thought it was from the card sticking to another card but it's like that on many contenders in the same spot.

It's not on the Brady but this is 2017 Contenders print error.
Look at the black box the says "quarterback". Not sure if it's some reaction from the foil and coating which maybe something like yours. Dirt or something got in there somewhere? Not as prominent on the SB Ticket but it's there.

Very interesting. Most likely debris of some type on the press when the card was being produced (at least on the Champ Tix). I wonder if PSA/BGS would look at these as print defects (i.e. fish eyes) versus surface damage. They might grade it higher if this was a known defect.

Yeah, maybe this is more common than I thought. Here's the one over at Probstein. It's faint, but you can just make it out in the pic. Same spot, same print defect.

Someone needs to figure out how many championship contenders have been pulled out of boxes so we will know the odds of pulling one out of those unopened Contender cases.

Common issue and got a 7 surface as a result. Too bad.

It does seem like both have a similar print run, just based off eBay sales. Having had both, I prefer the Chrome in person, but you are correct about the Bowman being a harder grade. Unfortunately for the Bowman, there has been a large amount of reprints produced, which has stunted the value of raw copies. They are easy to spot in person, but difficult to differentiate in pictures over the internet.

People demand Chrome more, that is all there is to it.
