People are still paying big money for Vlad as they are also paying big money for Yordan. In both cases, the gamble is theirs to make. Both are pretty safe bets at this point considering that Yordan may be DHing his way to a World Series ring and Vlad is going to be a big part of an incredible team. The problem for Vlad is that people here want instant gratification and he’s not offering that. Those are the people who will put those buildings and bridges to use.

Acuna and Soto have kinda ruined it for others. If you aren't having a massive season your rookie years, it seems like you are treated as a bust. Look at Trout in 2011. Batted .220

His 2019 Series 2 Missing Number or 2019 Topps Update?

I'm wandering if down the road the missing number will turn people off and I doubt PSA would put it in their HoF registery (if he ever makes it that far) since it's not technically a part of the set. Whereas the 2018 Topps Acuna 698 and Torres 699 are actually part of the checklist.

I don’t think at this point it really matters much to be honest.
Vlad’s Base Update (and all parallels) will be as sought after, if not more than Acunas 18 update stuff. I say maybe more because of the NNO.
Traditionalists will tell you that the NNO sp is the true RC and they will be right.
Buy what you like and if he excels it will all go up.

the "funny" thing is that it was Topps' error on the pack issued Series 2 RC.
they did not intend for it to have no number (as it was corrected in the factory sets)

I think it will definitely be the Ser 2 NNO. They're tough condition-wise, too, so PSA 10's should have a huge premium. I bought roughly 30 raw copies, and I only designated 3 of them as a probable PSA gems. Those corners are rough. I am really annoyed at the way PSA labeled them though. They should have just put "NNO" where the card number is supposed to be on the flip, and not had the "MISSING CARD NUMBER" designation at the bottom.

Vlad does lift weights after all. I have sunk a lot of money into his RCs and kind of follow him like a nervous stock investor. Lurked for a long time, and call him 'fat boy' rhetorically now unfortunately (thanks a lot fellas).

Hopefully FB finds the gym this offseason; he says he knows where it is.

Yup. Bat down - about 1 per case. Vladdy NNO, about 6 per case. Now, from what we can guess, there was less Series 2 produced this year, than Series 2 last year, so maybe there aren't 6 times as many of them out there, but maybe close to it.

I just bought a LOT of 2019 Series 2 Retail to break, so I will report back on how frequently the Vladdys come out of there.
