Is anyone else picking up the 2024 last of the silver Prizms on Mahomes? I have been getting them $5-7, dozens now. I know people are ripping Prizm retail (and hobby) just looking for the 2024 quarterback RCs, but it still seems like a bit of a steal.

Unless a few of the rookie QBs end up bigtime stars, it's a good chance the Pat silver will be one of the best cards out of those packs. I think Mahomes' Panini cards will be viewed as the "young Mahomes" years. Jmo.

Brady stuff kind of flatlined after his third ring. Patriots fatigue was real and Brady cards didn't blow up until he came back from the dead against Atlanta. Kind of how I see Mahomes playing out. There's Chiefs fatigue and he needs to do something really special at this point to captivate collectors to spit out more money than they are already doing. I wouldn't think there's much downside risk as he's cemented his status as of of the greats. That said, it wasn't long ago Russell Wilson was the hobby darling and my oh my how the mighty has fallen. Prizm PSA 10s that fetched $500 in 2020 are now $37. Mahomes is no Wilson, not even close, but it provides some perspective on what can happen to values when the hype and performance fades.

Depends on what others do as well. Does Hurts win one or two more, what do Burrow, Allen, Jackson, Daniels etc accomplish in the next 5-10 years. Also, how does Mahomes age after 35 is something to consider. Excited to see it all play out the next decade.

What’s your napkin math estimate on how many silvers produced? Has to be well over 10k of them out there.

Do most people in this thread/site really have Mahomes #2 all time already on their list? Hes been great, but hes till not top 5 for me if he retired today.

Please don't compare him to Russell Wilson. We're over that.

3rd.

He's accomplished more in less time that guys like Manning, Rodgers, Brees, and Elway.

He has only won more Super Bowls that those guys. Most have more times leading league in stats, larger counting stats, or also vs Manning less Awards as well.

As for His Prices, I expect them to drop nearly 20% in the next 12 months. I dont like how the Chiefs have looked the last 2 years ( I know, a sB And SB Loss) but if he doesnt win MVP, lead in any stats, and gets bounced First round of the playoffs next year. Hes old news quick imo.

I once shot a 34 on the front nine…….and finished 18 ten over. Yes he has been successful early but let’s see how the tail end of his career finishes.

For the record I think he’s right there with guys like brees, Rodgers, manning, elway and Favre. He can definitely pull away from those guys. He’s in a great position to given what he has already accomplished but let’s see how he finishes the back nine of his career

How many Super Bowls did you win on the front 9?

Not top 5, lol? You must be going pure stats.
Pat with 7 seasons so far obviously can't compete with guys who've played 12 to 15 to even 23 seasons.

Mahomes is clearly #1 on talent/athletic QB. I don't think that's debatable.
He has every "fastest to X" passer record there is.
Amazing passer who can run a bit when he needs to.
People can say Vick's a better runner or something, but really nobody's a better passer... and that's what QBs do at the end of the day.
There have been many other very good passers (Elway, Manning, Brady, etc), but they couldn't even make the pass in practice that Mahomes did in SB garbage time this year.
Dude has a cannon. It's not really his fault his 2024 top WR Rice played 3 games and WR2 HBrown hurt preseason. He still made SB.

Overall, Mahomes is prob #2 historic QB in my book as of 2024 end, yeah.
I'd be amazed if it's even debatable in 10yrs more (17 years Mahomes starter... Brady played 23yrs).
The Mount Rushmore of QBs is Brady, Mahomes, Peyton, Montana in 90% of ppl's book.
Pat's obviously first ballot HOF if he never played another down... but he will play a bit more - or a lot more.

For passing stats, PM's on pace to crush all as said, but that'll happen when it happens.
He's already #2 for playoff pass TD and will be top 3 in playoffs pass yds next season... when he's not even 30 until next season. Not bad.
Some of that depends on receivers. If KC could land Garrett Wilson to pair with Xavier, he'd probably win another MVP next year and have 5000/50 again. If the team has avg WRs like 2023 or get injuries like 2024, it takes a good bit longer obviosuly.
Either way, it's very rare QBs who are good passers don't play to late 30s or 40+ these days, but you never know.

I could really care less about SBs myself (as long as the guy has a few, which Mahomes already does). It's a team game with 53+ guys and a very hard thing to do. I think it sandbags Marino, Tarkenton, etc that they weren't a winner in the big game ever. Unitas, Favre, ARodg, Brees, etc only got 1 SB... but that's 10x better than none.
Similarly, SBs helps solid guys like Kurt Warner or Staubach or BBen who weren't amazing stats - but they usually won when it counted. I don't see a huge diff between 2 or 3 SBs and a whole bunch, though... that's as much strong coach/team/owners as QB. Again, 50+ guy roster with injuries, luck, many factors. But yeah, Mahomes will likely add more SB as he's never failed to reach AFC champ game so far (KC always top or near top odds favorite for every SB as long as he's on the team). But the fact that any NFL QB can be clear HOF at not even age 30 is pretty rare.

Slow down there champ. He didnt even pass Montana yet in term of rings. And Montana had 11-0 TD INT in SB compared to Mahomes 10-7. He does have amazing arms but lately his accuracy took a dip. We'll see what kind of Mahomes we get next season but if you look at his stats, it's downhill from that amazing starts

I'm ok with Mahomes on the Mt. Rushmore. He's amazing. Just sayin'.

I put him right now at #3.

He's looking really good at this point in his career, but this superbowl was not a good look for him. His passer rating in the first half of the SB was 10.7 which was the third worst of ANY QB in the NFL this season. He was 6-14 with 33 passing yards and 2 int's in the first half. His turnovers led to 14 points.

People keep bringing up his passes in garbage time, but I feel like this is grasping at straws.

The good news is, he has hopefully another ten years to add to his resume. looking forward to what he does.

I hate GOAT discussions because no matter how hard people try, you can't compare different eras. Terry Bradshaw had a great point the other day. He won four Super Bowls in six years and he did it with no radio in his helmet and calling all of his own plays. Maybe some of today's QBs would be good at calling their own plays, maybe not. We'll never know.

We know Brady would have easily been able to call his own plays.

There's really no doubt about that.

Agree on the era's comparison. Very difficult.

Exactly^^

Can really only compare guys to the peers of their day.
Bradshaw's era was interceptions more than TDs even for most top guys.
It was a different time.

Peyton Manning was one of the best at adjustments on the line or changing plays. Other modern ones have been good, but none do it on the level past legend QBs had to.

But there are radios in the helmets now... and play lists on the wristbands. It's 2025.
Nobody will debate that any of the other 31 NFL teams in present day trading their QB to have Mahomes on the roster instead would't make them all significantly better, though.

But that's the thing...

Rodgers played in the exact same era and made the Super Bowl once. There was no Brady (other than 1 year), or Mahomes holding him back. He watched guys like Kurt Warner, Eli Manning, Colin Kaepernick, Russell Wilson, Cam Newton, Matt Ryan, Jarod Goff, and more get to as many or more Super Bowls than he did. To make it worse, Mahomes even beat the team that knocked him out of the playoffs in 2019-20.

So if Mahomes retires today, he's had a better career than Rodgers, the same way Michael Jordan had a better career than Karl Malone (who had more points, more rebounds, more blocks, more All NBA)

Mahomes is clearly #2 for me.
2 MVPs, 3 SB MVPs = 5 total
Brady has 8 total
Montana has same as Mahomes

Difference is Mahomes did it in 7 yrs vs 16 Montana
The rest of mahomes career is “additional”..I would gladly bet that he will add to this MVP list

Mahomes also has records (fastest to x yards, x TDs etc)..so he’s not average all year then plays well only in playoffs …though the last two years took a dip

Mahomes already has more playoff Ws than Montana at 7 yrs Vs 16
People forget Montana had bad playoff games too…sure he was excellent in the biggest game, but let’s not downplay playoff games..playoff games are extremely difficult to win (even though Mahomes has made it look easy (17-4 record))

This is why I put Montana ahead of him. (for now)

Like it or not, you are judged on the biggest stage, and Patty looked really bad on the biggest stage in the SB this year. This was a pretty big setback for him. Plus, his TD to INT ratio in the SB is not looking good.

Before the game, there was GOAT talk. Now? Not even close.

Like I said a few posts ago, he's basically "halfway through" his career right now, so there is plenty of time to build on his resume.

So are we putting hypothetical SB to Mahomes resume? Tomorrow is never guaranteed. We judge it from where he is right now. He's probably #3 rn

Yup, this is the correct take. There's no guarantee Mahomes will win one more. There's not even guarantee he'll get back to SB. He's also already on 2 year decline (massively) which is alarming at 29 years old. we'll see what he does from here but he's not passing montana as of now

That’s why GOAT talk is subjective …to me all playoff games are big ..yes SB is the biggest…but let’s not act like AFC conference games are small feats ..they also garner 50 millions viewers…I understand the average person who doesn’t watch football only tunes in on SB weekend ..but the “real” football fan watches all playoff games…

I will say mahomes hasnt played well in the SB in terms of stats…but he is a big gamer in the 4th quarter…to me that is clutch…(aside from his 2 SB losses where 4th quarter didn’t matter)

I will always choose a guy who has the same accomplishments in LESSER time ..also let’s not forget, Mahomes Floor is a OT loss in the conference finals…his floor is abnormally high ..just ask cowboy fans the last time they were in a NFC champ game…I think mahomes will get more praise when he retires…people like to downplay players as they are still playing

And I don’t simply ring count ..rings are more of a team thing
I do count MVPs (regular n SB)
