For me getting in so early ripping is just so much fun and less painful... at the higher costs I wouldn't even be buying a case. So I am going to enjoy the ride... maybe I get lucky?

This is the first nice color to end via auction since he blew up. Base are selling for $850 or so. Plus peeps love team color parallels. Blue on Blue on Blue!

I mean they are already almost as much as Kershaw for crying out loud. The "hobby" has lost their damn minds.

Simply not true. We aren't talking Mantle or Ruth here.

Sure you have HR hitters like Aaron and Mays but they were MUCH more than HR hitters. They were 2 of best players of all time

Even forgetting the steroid guys (Arod/bonds/McGwire/Sosa) the pure HR hitters don't get much hobby love...at all: Thome has over 600, Killebrew, Reggie, Eddie Matthews, Schmidt, F. Robinson all over 500 and HOFers and well rounded players. Their cards are pretty cheap and will very more than likely have more HRs than Bellinger.

On top of that, what has it done for these guys recently:

Trumbo
Nelson Cruz
Chris carter
Kris Davis
Encarnacion
Chris Davis
Stanton
And the list goes on.

I don't think HRs lead to hobby love, it's really more of the hot streak hype. Joc prices were nuts at one point, so we're Puig. Fellow Dodgers.

If they are one dimensional players people lose interest.

Once Bellinger cools off, his probable .245 average will make people nervous. Pitchers adjust. It's a given.

More power to Bellinger. Great talent...but the prices (in my humble opinion) are flat out ridiculous

Im sure you have examples for this one, but another big part of this story is the market each of these guys are in. New York and L.A. That definitely helps.

That's true - but Corey Seager is in LA. When I see a Blue Bellinger going for $1000 more than Seager, that's when i feel people (buyers at these prices) really have no idea what they are doing

True about Seager as well, but as another member mentioned, we all dig the long ball. And 22 this early on is impressive. Corey had 26 his rookie year. Compound that with being in L.A., compounded with only being 21, compounded with Dodgers fans yearning for a title, compounded with what Judge is doing on the Leas...errr...East Coast 😁, and the card numbers make sense.

But elite does count when it's on card and it's one of the hottest players on the planet. In the long run it doesnt matter, but when it's one of the more affordable autos out there, it's gonna get love. Also, I have 2 👍
