Player collectors, 3-5 cards you should be able to find but cant

Love seeing this thread bumped. I'll update mine!

1.) 2000-01 Fleer stickers- I've said it before and I'll say it again, absolute nightmare to find. And naturally, Mitch appears twice. Ugh.

2.) 2000-01 Fleer Mystique gold- way rarer than the 99-00 counterpart. But not numbered, so nobody cared. Horrible to find.

3.) 1990 Hoops Action Photos- giant pictures that most kids probably tacked to their wall. Found an ENORMOUS stack of them at the national this past year- but no Mitch among them somehow.

4.) 1998-99 Stadium Club TRAN #223 First Day Issue /200- a late 90s parallel that I should have seen by now. I've seen 2 24 kt golds and 3 spx grand finales the last 3 years- but none of these. What gives??

5.) 1999-00 Gold Label class 2 black label- Oh, great. Another rare-but-unnumbered parallel from the era when Mitch was still playing but I wasn't collecting (1998-2002).

I was able to find another of my original 5, the 1998-99 UD choice reserve premium /100!! That leaves me just one from the original list. My new 5 are below

1) 1998-99 Skybox Thunder Rave /150 - I've heard rumors that the print run was not accurate and is lower than the /150... from my experience this seems legit. I've seen one card pop up at auction, with SN 000/150, and it went for much much more than I was expecting. I was very wary of the 000 SN and didn't even bid much. Other folks really did though! Never seen another. This is the lone card remaining from my original list

2) 2011-12 Panini Preferred Booklets Decades Prime /10
Card includes Patrick Ewing, LJ, Mitch Richmond, Karl Malone, 3D, mark Jackson, and Danny Manning. I’ve never seen one listed but have seen a copy on worthpoint. I guess this is locked away in some Karl Malone PCs.

3) 2007-08 Upper Deck Chronology Auto Gold /10
I’ve seen a few at auction and they sold MUCH higher than expected. The first was around 2017ish and sold 3-5x what similar Harper autos sold for. The other was in early 2020 or late 2019 and sold for 3x what the 2017 one sold for. Chronology collectors have deep deep pockets apparently.

4) 1998-2000 UD MVP Super Script /25
While a card from this era /25 are rare... he was in the set two years and I’ve never seen one on the secondary market. So it’s kinda like a /50 card In my mind. I’ve broken a few boxes looking for them but no luck.

These are rare, but the better players at the time had them made. You can easily find Magic, MJ, Robinson, and Bird. I thought Ron Harper would have been a prospector bet at this point in his career but apparently no one liked him??? I have never seen a single copy of this card for him.

Great list and great write up! Yeah those 2000-01 Fleer Mystique golds are TOUGH. I have one Kukoc but I am looking for another for my binder. One historic sale and it is the one I have.

The Darrell Armstrong Stadium Club 1st Day issue Refractor /25 is my current white whale (Other than 1/1's). There's a "missing serial #" backdoored copy that's been on Ebay for a long time and sometimes I think I should buy it in case I never do see the pack-inserted one. But as a good player collector, I conduct the exact same searches every single day and remain optimistic. Other great cards always pop up along the way.

I’ve been looking for these two 2013 Prizm Magics for 5 years now with no luck. I know one collector that has the only two I’ve ever seen (his photos). They aren’t numbered so they shouldn’t be as rare as they occur. Someone once told me there was a manufacturer miscalculation and not many of these were distributed. Don’t know if that’s true or not. But I’ve had these on my EBay saved searches since 2018 and not one has popped up since.

I have only seen one, ONE, Blue Guard Duty John Wall since I jumped back in February’16. Luckily the owner gifted it to me. Some say the print run is less than 5!

Only missing the /25 ruby die cut, but teams checklists are harder to find.
The /100 is similar to a superfractor effect without the gold finishing.

5) 2000-01 Topps Gold Label Leather Jersey Home
This is an unnumbered insert card with a very unique appearance. They used a leather ball like surface to the card, as well as including a jersey swatch. Different estimates place the print run between 30-50 cards. Unlike the other remaining cards I need from late 90s and early 2000s, this is not a subtle card that could be “missed” when opening packs. This one sticks out, yet I’ve never seen a copy for sale. I have seen ONE picture from worthpoint of this card, so I know it exists…. I blame the poor rookie class as maybe there is a lot of unopened wax somewhere where these are still hiding.

Yeah those are always a pain to find centered with good eye appeal. And it’s even tougher to find one that’s centered, with no greening, and unpeeled!

I’m usually a “never peel” guy but with this set I’d def consider the centering more important.

I’m not even bothering holding out hope for one without greening, I don’t think I’ve seen a single example of Penny.
