Will still be a fan of Freddie no matter where he goes. I think it's possible to be a Freddie Freeman fan AND a Braves fan at the same time.

David O'Brien made a good point on Twitter that I hadn't thought about. At the $175m level, both California and New York would cost about $13m more in taxes. Hopefully more of an incentive for Freddie to stay in ATL.

I have to believe all this Dodgers talk is Freddie's agent working the media, so they can raise the Braves offer. The chatter is so one sided...for the Dodgers. Feels a little "extra". I could be completely wrong.

I swear a Jeff Passan tweet announcing him to the Jays popped up but now it's gone. Maybe a fake account that looked real but can't find that searching either.

been asking this on twitter for a while

been curious how much more he would have to be paid in Cali or NY for their contracts to be equal to the Atlanta offer

No way he leaves ATL. Along with Spahn, Matthews, Aaron, Murphy, and those 3 pitchers, he is a "Braves top 10"

Let's put 10 in the top 10. Aaron, Chipper, Matthews, Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz, Freeman, Niekro, Murphy, and Spahn with apologies to A. Jones. Here's hoping Acuna, Albies, and some of the young pitchers make this list a big debate in a few years.

Definitely! In my haste to remember the older guys I forgot Larry Wayne... definitely an All-time Brave!

If he does, did he really love Atlanta?

Would he leave for money?

Long gone are the Derek Jeters, the Cal Ripkens, the Kershaws, the Tony Gwynns who stay loyal to one team.

My thoughts exactly. If he leaves for a few million more in LA, then the ATL love was probably overblown a bit.

Nothing wrong with that, but there is zero doubt how much Chipper loved ATL - because he chose to never leave.

Not sure. The Dodgers are a big market, but not sure that translates that much to hobby love like the Yankees, Red Sox, or the Braves do. I think it's a step down in collecting base. Personally, I had a few FF cards on my watchlist that just went off of it. I'm searching out other Braves players instead. Freddie is still a Braves all time great so not like I'm dumping his stuff, but he's just a lower priority now. All that said, trades and big signings bring publicity which is generally good for value.

I think Olson gets a bigger bump than Freeman.

Multiple executives believe that Freddie Freeman and his representatives may have over played their hand…so it will be interesting to see his final contract. #Rays #Dodgers #Padres #RedSox

Would've paid to see their faces when told of the Matt Olson signing.
