People take way too many hot takes on board and stick with them all the way.

No reasonable bball fan with half a brain thought this would be a sweep. 3 of the first 5 games in this series are in TOR for starters. They're a great team, even 4-1 would be a shocking result.

Even if GS get game 2, TOR are a great chance to get 1 in GS.

TOR have been legit all season, a contender. We know this. If you don't you haven't been watching them this season.

GS will bounce back, they played poorly and were in the game even though TOR got incredible output from their non stars..

The hot takes come from people with hidden agendas usually. Don't take their opinions as the opinions of the majority.

GS will adjust, we'll see Kerr make changes, well, he better, I thought he got way too cute with some of his moves.

GS clearly play better team ball without KD. But they were always gonna miss him at some point. Kawhi loves going at him so even a fit and healthy KD may not have saved them game 1.

Just gotta wait all the until Monday now.

Besides that, everything is still up in the air. Any team can win it.

What's the overall record again with Durant out the lineup? 31-5 or something?

I'm not completely counting out this possibility, but the greater data still points to there being a reasoning behind this and it not being a mere coincidence.

However, this may be matchup based.

BUT. Toronto did what they were supposed to do last night. Nothing more, nothing less. You have to protect home court, especially against the defending champs.

Now if we somehow head into game 3 and this is a 3-0 series, then absolutely the Durant theory was correct.

But if it heads back to Oracle tied up, then all of the sudden the 1 game overreactions will look foolish and we're right back to square one. Anyone thinking this series is a done deal whether Durant plays or not is fooling themselves. Nobody knows.

We'll see how it goes. We rarely ever see the best out of teams in the first game of a series. Adjustments will be made and different players will step up.

Otherwise all valid points.

Gosh. People here are acting like game 1 is a clear indication on who is going to win. Last I remember, it’s a best out of 7 series. Offensively, every non-splash brother on the Warriors didn’t do well and they had way too many silly turnovers. With that being said, the Warriors were still in it AT TORONTO. Siakam & Gasol did extremely well, but does anyone here see them putting up those numbers all series? Isn’t Steve Kerr great with adjustments? No one here thinks Kerr will adjust? Even though KD may not be 100% when he returns, do you think the Raptors will have a new game plan that will work? Will KD mess up the Raptors rhythm in game 3? This series is far from over.

I’ve been a Warriors fan since the RUN TMC days. I grew up about 20 minutes north of Oakland. I’m just happy to see them win that one in 2015 because I honestly never thought I would see the Warriors have a dynasty in my lifetime. Every new championship is just a plus for me. As quick as a dynasty comes, as quick as they go.. so I’ll enjoy every second of this.

Enjoy the rest of the series everyone!

I think it’s a 70% win rate for the game 1 winner
(Don’t quote me, but that’s what I was told)

Fun fact

Since the start of the 5 year run of the warriors they are 7-7 in the finals without KD and 8-1 with him

That odds means nothing to me because this is against a 2-peat championship team, this is the Raptors first Finals appearance, and the team that is down 0-1 will be getting one of the best NBA players alive in game 3. Anything can happen.

honestly I can see both of them have a few more big games, even though Siakam probably won't have another 14-17 night and Gasol probably won't get a lot more of those wide open three's

it's going to be interesting to see how Kerr adjusts. I still can't believe Bogut didn't play at all game 1.

Yep. Against top-level competition, you want the best player in the league going to war with you.

Ha ha, apologies for pigeon holeing you with some of the people with hidden agendas.

I think Dray on Gasol needs to be the match up. Not Dray on Siakam.

But they don’t need him

Toronto will go up 2-0 and when Durant gets back GS will win 4 straight and KD his 3rd Finals MVP.

Next season GS won’t make the Finals without KD!

Well said. I grew up in Fremont, i know the pain of being a long suffering Golden State fan. Every ring is just icing on the cake. But i have to admit. Greed is starting to creep in just a little.... A couple more rings couldn't hurt...

I love hearing the idea that Siakam and Gasol won't repeat what they did in game 1 going forward.

So let me get this straight, that logic applies when you're saying a player won't overachieve, but it doesn't apply when a player underachieved? Will Leonard only score 20 and shoot 35% again? Will Lowry only score 7 and shoot 22% going forward?

I'm sticking with Warriors in 6, KD or no KD.

Regardless of the usual divisive prattle coming from anti-Dubs camps, would be nice to even this series. Let's see what the original core is made of. Would be fun to see Steph and/or Klay get scorching hot.

I'm rooting for Toronto for my friends up North.

This ought to be a great Series though.

seems like many are thinking KD will be back.

I'm not so sure unless there is a lot of misdirection with communication going on.

Thought he hasn't been cleared to practice yet.

I guess the joke passed you by. Lebron and the Cavs are 1-8 in their last 9 finals games without Durant
