That’s not to say that flagships from ‘19, ‘18, etc., haven’t been submitted in droves. But those have lower production runs (relatively speaking), and some of the rookies from those sets are more established stars—as they’ve had an extra year or two to establish themselves.

My sense is that 2020 flagship (as well as 2021) doesn’t have quite the same potential as previous years, because of the production and grading saturation. (I’m just speaking of the base cards, not the parallels.) There’s still investment opportunity, of course, but expectations probably need to be tempered.

The PSA backlog, which, as you said, is resulting in a flooding now but will eventually relent, is also a factor presently. So, I’d say there are multiple facets (micro and macro) to this.

Yup. Ultra modern base cards already have extremely high PSA 10 pop counts and those number are only going up. The only way we’ll see any kind of significant movement on those is if someone decided to try and control the market by buying up thousands on them.

I would normally expect to see a rise in graded base cards due to the amount of unopened that's out there. But with the rise of grading fees, that will limit the influx we are seeing on the market. I believe over time(years from now), this will all balance out once the supply on the market decreases. We could see another boom in the hobby when Fanatics finally takes over and rolls out whatever plan they have. A perfect storm could be brewing as many of the last few years rookie class will be entering their prime years. Collectors and fans will go back and grab the flagship rookie cards.

There it is! And worth every bit of $3800 (minus that slight discount).

How’s it looking? Does it pass the sharpness test?

Two things I was surprised about, the corners are surprisingly sharp and the back is damn near perfect with no white showing anywhere.

With that said, the front edges aren't perfect. There's some minor chipping, moreso on the left side. There's only one spot really noticeable though, most of it isn't clearly visible without magnification. There's a few small scratches on the front surface and it's also slightly off center,, which you can clearly see in the photo.

Overall I'd say there's a chance at a PSA 9, but no lower than a PSA 8. Most likely comparable in condition to the CSG 8.5 auction I lost.

Congrats! I’m still trying to find another Finest Flashback Refractor to add to my collection. The PSA pop report hasn’t budged on those like I thought they would

Probably my favorite Yordan. Seems like you see more Golds #/50 than the unnumbered refractors. They're crazy tough to find. This one will go to PSA when they open up a lower service level.

Wanna punch myself in the ding dong AND the ping pongs when I balked at the $700 opening bid he put on that CSG 8.5 the first few times (when it got no bids).

He went from $700 to $650 in the 2nd iteration I believe. I kept waiting, but once I saw it drop to $500 I said screw it and opened the bidding. I regretted not going higher on my final bid, but I ended up getting the raw one for $500 so it worked out in the end.

Nice FF refractor! I have a gold and a black, but I never got a regular one. Still on the hunt for that...

So I received my card today.

It's /607 and says September on the back.

I clearly won for the date of 10-2-21.

I finally picked up a raw 2020 TC xfractor. I’ve been wanting one for a while. I would post a picture, but we all know what it looks like. Haha. I’ll be sending it off to SGC soon.

That's a beauty! By far my favorite card of his. Having not had a lot of money in 1993, the 2020 Finest Flashback set screamed for me to collect it. I'm still short a few big cards though. I do have a a few of these already, thanks to these boards, but would like to grab at least one more for the collection. I also have seen a lot more golds pop up then the refractor version. It's a coin flip on what others think is a nicer card but the refractor version is my personal favorite.

I'd send it back and ask for the correct month. Maybe they will give you a much lower number for the trouble.
