Always like these lists. Understand why Acuna is 1 and Tatis is 2 and Soto is 3, but check the 5-year WAR totals for all..

Hah. I was the one who bought the paper gold for 2.8k. I definitely overpaid, but what cards aren't already demanding a premium at this point.

There were many lebron, trout, giannis, luka, mahomes cards that I passed on because I wasn't ready to pay the extra 10-20% markup at the time.

I do have one big Soto card, but wish I had bought more of his stuff when they were still relatively low.

Coming from other sports, you are lucky you picked the right hype guy to overpay for and not Acuna

Thanks and totally hear you on that one! My plan was add more soto and Tatis to the collection this year over a longer period of time. I just wasnt expecting them to both go ballistic this early into the season. Then I started suffering fomo = spending a lot of $$$.

Yeah, I missed the acuna boat entirely not because I had foresight, I was just focused on football and basketball during that stretch. Trust me, I totally would have jumped on the acuna hype train knowing my tendencies. But who knows, acuna has so much talent and is my second fav player behind tatis.

Just speaking from a purely baseball perspective, Tatis and Soto right now are much better players than Acuna. Acuna was never anywhere close to the best player in baseball(closer to 10th-15th) and last year he was worse offensively than his first season. Tatis and Soto might be the two best players in baseball and are truly performing right now at all time great level. Tatis has major injury risk so Soto is the safest with just as high of a ceiling. It's not a popular opinion on here because so many people on this board dumped tons of money into Acuna, but he is being left in the dust by a wide margin right now

I agree about Acuna. He’s too feast or famine for me to spend money on. That being said every year there are guys who get white hot and become the “best player in the league”. I’ve mentioned that in other threads. There was talk about Mookie, Bellinger and others during their MVP years as being the best in the game. They leveled out. To have the mantle of “best” indicates consistency... Tatis and Soto are amazing young stars but we only have 2-3 years to go by. Neither has won an MVP (yet) but both are having exceptional seasons in a weird year. I see both being great for a long time, but Trout is still the standard. He’s been the best player for years now and is still there simply because no one has passed his consistent greatness. Could someone? Yes. Might be Soto or Tatis or both. Either way it’s a fun time to watch these young stars shine.

But that's what makes this year's hype unique. Tatis and Soto are actually performing as the two best right now. They aren't lucking their way into it. Their peripherals support their production.

Well with bgs9.5 refractors /250 selling for $2k my guess for a gold PSA10 might be $4000 at least, don’t know.

There was one on COMC for $4000, seller upped it to $5000 and I see it’s gone now.

PSA 10 /250 should be a $3.5-4K card if that’s what a BGS 9.5 is getting. Something like a 2-2.5x premium for the /50 is probably fair.
