The waves look wavier and worse than ever IMO. They’re kinda hard to look at.

I think there could be a bloodbath for prices this November. The online retailers that are smart will put in deals to get rid of the junk 2021 and 2022 products/etc.

Those aren't smart will be caught holding worthless product.

I guess Topps Employees are at it again with the Julio base autos.

This is a historic thread.

2022 topps chrome may actually evolve into the product that slayed the pandemic pump.

It began with pumping at it's ugliest and the product may end up being one of the biggest turds of all time.

Imagine if Wander and Jrod flame out of favor.

Good gosh, it could get ugly.

A grotesque reminder of greed at it's pinnacle.

Wander is on his way to Delmon Young version 2

Tork is a not doing much

Witt is doing decent but no where near what his prices are

Julio is awesome but need to see more

Its always a risk prospecting and buying wax at 3-4 times what it should be is even more risky. The price it started at is what it should be down the road if these guys pan out.

The hobby is backwards these days everyone is a minor league Hall of Famer.

What difference does it make how many cases one has??
ITS THE SAME IN ALL THREADS.. you go to a Juan Soto Thread and people will discuss which cards are a good buy and which aren't.. or if he is worth investing in or not, you get both sides.. doesn't matter if you have his cards or not

Marcelo Mayer, Jasson Dominguez, Cristian Hernandez are all Unproven, and why are they selling so high? that's when one has to analyze current prices to potential prices

In this case talking about 2022 Topps Chrome, I see current prices worth buying. Per the HYPE that's coming and also PERFORMANCE as I believe in Wander Franco and if im lucky the other players would be added... at $3,500/ case im in.. at $5,000 im not.. the risk is higher to what I would be comfortable with

I agree. This could (hopefully) be the start of people not buying as many pre-sales regardless of checklist.

Too many ppl got burned because Topps and distributors got too greedy.

I mean when you need to see more from someone who is putting up a 6 win season as a 21 year old, you're always going to be disappointed with the turnout. And funny enough, Wander already has a higher career WAR than Delmon Young. You see, he's been really good (again, he's 21) when he hasn't had a broken hamate bone.

Ahh, the good old days yes. I ripped over 10 cases of 2018 Topps Update - my LCS had a ton of it and it wouldn't sell through. I was so stoked to get all that great product at that price. Now if I'd only had the foresight to keep it all sealed lol.

Many people on this forum thought CJ Abrams was ever be worth more than a dollar despite him being average offensively at level since rookie ball. Vast majority of people here just do not know baseball

But I do think it's watering down the high end parallel market, at least in 2022 Topps, as there is one player I've decided to try and buy all the Blacks of and it is far cheaper than expected which I'm thrilled with

Panini has to be looking at this situation just confused, thinking collectors wanted tons of parallels, inserts, crazy colors, sparkles, numbered this and that…..but ultimately people are pissed because some base cards are missing.

Again. Writing off a 21 year old who had like 350 career PA above high school coming into the year. He’s likely going to be just fine. Maybe too late for hobby? Perhaps. But he should be a perfectly good player.

I just got a Yordan black paper for $6. 🤷🏻#@♂️. Collecting singles have been pretty affordable for me of late.

He's 22 in two weeks. He's had 600 ABs above high school and has been average everywhere(plus stinking in the majors). He hasn't proven he can hit above rookie ball. I would've wrote the guy off for hobby value well before this year.

He hit .300 both of the last two minor league seasons and he’s hitting .300 in September. He’s not walking for #@#@#@#@ and not hitting for much power but I’d guess he ends up being something like Dee Gordon with more pop. I’d certainly think he makes an all star game or two at the least.

Wrong. He did it once and that was combined with very little power.

and he’s hitting .300 in September.

Wrong again. He's hitting .296 in his 54 ABs in September(plus 0 HRs) and he's hitting .231 with 2 HRs in 250 ABs for the entire season. But hey, if you believe in average hitters that finish with decent BAs but almost zero power having a hobby future then buy buy buy!

Dee Gordon definitely isn't worth the one dollar threshold I was putting Abrams at, that was the point. People were paying a couple hundred dollars for his BC auto for a while. People are still paying 70 bucks for it

Topps Chrome has been one the worst rips and most watered down products over the last 6-7 years. You newbies pumping it and paying these prices seriously have no clue.
