If The Rock will indeed enter a 'Mania program with Reigns, could Reign's reign (pun intended?) end before 'Mania? Feel like the belts aren't needed for this program.

I'm guessing Roman will face Cody and the Rock will be the special ref.

Wow. I was only 12 when this happened, but was a die hard WWE fan and remember what a shock wave it felt like. One of the most significant moments in modern wrestling, and completely set the tone for the line-blurring, edgy directions that followed and are still a major part of the business today.

Maybe I'll throw the match on this weekend and revisit. The "screwjob" completely overshadows the fact that this was an incredible match, one of the best of '97.

There are a lot of great podcasts that deep dive all the corners and rabbit holes from this night. There has still not really been a good documentary made, I don't think. The recent one from VICE really left a lot to be desired imo.

I really don't blame Vince for what happened. Bret refused to do the job for Shawn and Vince had seen what happened when Blaze had been the womans champ and threw his belt in the trash on TV. Would Bret take the title to WCW if he did not get what he wanted? Had Bret agreed to just take the pin this would have never happened but his ego would not allow him to get pined in Canada despite he was leaving the company.

Bray Wyatt reportedly has a lot more creative freedom during his current WWE run under Chief Content Officer Triple H.

A new report from Wrestlevotes notes that among the wrestlers Wyatt wants to work with are his brother Bo Dallas, and his former Wyatt Family stablemate Erick Rowan.

It was said that Wyatt has so much sway within WWE right now that if he wanted Dallas or Rowan to come back to work his program, or just about anyone else for that matter, then WWE officials would likely say yes.

It’s been reported how Wyatt has significant input into his storyline direction these days. This new report notes that Wyatt has higher-ups listening to all of his ideas.

“I think this whole Bray stuff is really a collaboration of what he wants to do, and they will listen. I know for a fact that they will listen to every single idea that man has, and they will try to do it to perfection. That’s the kind of respect that he has,” it was stated.

Wyatt having this much creative pull is a big change from how things were towards the end of his first run under former WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon. Wyatt was reportedly unhappy with a lot of the booking decisions for his character during those days.

A Wyatt stable has been rumored for the near future, but there’s no confirmation that a faction is in the direction they are headed. It was reported back in early October that Dallas was headed back to WWE, but there’s no word yet on when or what he will be doing. Dallas signed with WWE in 2008 but last appeared appeared in November 2019, and then was released on April 15, 2021.

Rowan was released on April 15, 2020 after 9 years with the company. He has made three appearances for AEW – one at the Brodie Lee Celebration of Life episode on December 30, 2020, then on the March 4, 2022 edition of AEW Rampage, which led to Rowan making his in-ring debut at AEW Revolution this past March, teaming with current AEW World Trios Champions PAC and Penta El Zero Miedo for a six-man loss to The House of Black on the pre-show.

As noted, Wyatt apparently began a new feud with LA Knight on this week’s SmackDown. You can click here for details. If the program moves ahead towards Wyatt vs. Knight, this is interesting as both Superstars are currently being pushed as favorites of Triple H.

Stay tuned to WrestlingHeadlines.com for more.
I like this. As long as "creative control" doesn't include having a say on whether you go over or not, what's the harm?

I'm a fan of what Wyatt brings to the table. I know A LOT of people are not, but it's entertainment and he entertains me.

I wouldn't be surprised if they bring back his brother (is he still dating Liv?), Rowan and even maybe his sister.

They want people to buy merch and watch the shows. While I"m not buying merch, I have tuned in to Smackdown the last 1-2 months just for the sole purpose of seeing what will pop up in the background, in interviews, etc etc etc.

What the hell is HBK doing in NXT...

Hype up a character with ominous voice over vignettes about wanting to destroy NXT...

Only to be freaking Reggie under an atrocious looking mask doing flippy moves...

Wow...

So report that Ciampa will turn on Miz upon his return to reform DIY for a tag team run again before they go back to singles werstling. Makes sense. Ciampa seems he's on limited time with all the injuries he's had and perhaps working in a tag team you can get more out of him before he has to hang it up.

I would just like to see the Miz get a decent push again instead of having to be the guy they turn to job to everyone called up from NXT. Would like to see him break Jerhico's record of IC regins before Miz is all said and done.

Not sure it makes sense to put the US title back on Theory. Even more so since Rollins held it what 2 months?

Looks like Seth won it 10/10 so closer to a month and a half, seems silly to me as well. Think I’m burnt out on Wargames after tonight. The Men’s match was good but thought the women’s was an absolute mess with people standing around doing nothing for most of the first 20-25 min.

Based on rumors, it looks like you'll have a full year to get over being burnt out. Survivor Series is now War Games. You won't see a War Games style match any other time from here on out.

Did notice one big miss in US triple threat match. Rollins did dive over rope onto Lashley and Theory. Theory was to close to the ropes and Rollins did not touch him at all. After he missed Theory looked over his shoulder and then fell down like he was hit.

With SZ I can see something now were KO has to beat him to earn a title shot. KO beats SZ and then the bloodline turn on SZ for not getting the job done. KO says see I told you this would happen. Then at RR the bloodline are attacking KO after the match and SZ runs down to make the save and setting up a tag team title match at WM with KO/SZ vs the Uso's.

If anyone is familiar with EWR, I had a scenario where The Patriot was feuding with Bret Hart, but after Hart beat him in a title defense, he told The Patriot that he had to go through each member of the Hart Foundation (I had The Rock joining the Foundation) to get another title shot. He beat all the members in subsequent PPVs and then lost to The Rock at the RR. Then during the RR, the final 4 were The Rock, Owen Hart, British Bulldog, and The Patriot. Owen Hart turned on the Foundation because Bret was favoring The Rock, and eliminated Rock and Bulldog. Then he eliminated himself, letting The Patriot win. Had The Patriot beating Bret Hart at Wreslemania. 1997 WWF, good times.

I may be in the minority, but i'm not a fan of the War Games set up.

You go into the match knowing that nothing of substance (ie the finish) is going to happen for 30 minutes, until every man is in the ring.

They should just start with everyone in the ring, or 4 vs 4 and the team lead go in last with one team having an advantage for 3-5 minutes.

I know they are making up new rules/twists as they go, but last night they said if you leave the cage, you forfeit for your team... I had never heard that before...

Combine War Games with Survivor Series and have pins and submissions for the entire match, elimination style.

They go back to War Games go back to old style ring with roof on top. Don't need someone to have to jump off the cage.

I agree with you, greatly preferred the old survivor series style elimination matches.

Really enjoyed the Mens war game match. Womens wasn't terrible, but the immense amount of weapons seemed to kinda ruin the match for me. I did like how both matches seemed to be projecting stories moving forward. Definitely good long term storytelling which was strongly lacking for years and years.

Too many bad memories of Nash/Psycho Sid trying to powerbomb people and hitting the roof, ugly landings...

Bring the roof down once all 10 people are in the ring(s), have weapons attached to it...

And maybe have it be 5-6 feet higher so you COULD pull off a powerbomb
