The wrestling was bad, the match concept was “better” than I expected, Bray’s body paint and eyes were cool. I like the Bray character, I don’t watch him for five star matches. I’d rather watch his storyline than Reigns the last 2-3 years, but that’s just me.

Which tells you how bad the rest of the card can be and still not be that bad

Wow. So surprised. The second Rhodes got hurt 9 months ago every knew he would come back and win the rumble. I have grown to hate how predictable it has become ever since the Roman reigns angle.

Man I miss Pat McAfee on commentary. Best part was during the Women's match and he was doing the Street Fighter schtick when Zelina and Xia Li were fighting on the ring apron.

The Bloodline storyline has been the best thing WWE has done in a very long time. The match itself was good, but the postmatch stuff was phenomenal.
Ripley winning and Asuka returning was great, and overall this years rumble was much, much better than last year's, but the rest was pretty forgettable. |

I don't think it's exaggeration to say the bloodline ending to the Rumble is perhaps the best thing on TV in a really, really long time. Holy cow. How can you not be totally captivated? The beatdown on Owens, the emotion from Sami, to then hit Roman with the chair. Roman's reaction (!), the beatdown by Jimmy/Solo. Roman's hurt to Sami hitting him. Jey walking out. This storyline. WOW. Bravo to all involved because this is a money making story.

The ending was great, definitely an awesome way to cap that story and kick-off the next one.
Watching the press conference for the first time ever, and it's...odd. They aren't really in character most of the time, but they kinda are sometimes.

I loved the men's rumble match, but it would've been hilarious, if after Cody jumped over the top rope, if Rey would've been standing in the ring.

If you don’t find the ending amazing you might as well never watch again. 50 years from now that will still be a high point in WWE history. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

And it didn't matter. Everyone sold it well and played their parts.
Lot of cool little details. I love how the long hair Uso who didn't like Zayn was the first to jump in on Zayn... Roman had perfect cadence and tone up to the chari shot. And the Uso who left was all torn cuz he liked him. The storyline drama was well done and the tension was peak right here. Need more of this. Hopefully there is more to the story too though.

Anyone know what happens after the telecast is over?
Curious if Sami and KO just pop up and walk out? |

The men's RR wasn't all that great. Outside of Booker, no surprise entrants, nobody from NXT. Some decent storytelling throughout. Kofi must have got hurt bad because they clearly had a spot set up with the chair and Woods being there, but they didn't follow through. The Pitch Dark match wasn't bad, but it definitely feels like the match got cut on time. I mean, Bray threw the toolbox into the ring and never used it. The ending was cinematically cool. The women's championship match was whatever, really. Interested to see what happens with Bliss. The women's RR was pretty good. I mean, I enjoyed it. As the match progressed, you could see that Ripley was going to win. Also, who had Asuka going XXX for her entrance on their Bingo card? At least, that's what I thought when she took off the mask, but I can be a pretty big perv for Asuka, not gonna lie. The ME was great storytelling and after the match was excellent storytelling. I had to go back and listen to the pop for Sami at least a dozen times. Jey has been on point for the entirety of this story and I believe he should be the one to defeat Roman. It'll be Cody, of course, but if I were Cody I wouldn't want it because he's going to be playing second fiddle now to the Bloodline story. We'll see what WWE does to make that match bigger than anything Jey and Sami are doing at WM. Overall, without the aftermath of the ME, the show as okay. The aftermath made the show special. I'd give it an A- just on the strength of the ending. Without the ending, I'd give it a C+. That's how good, to me, that ending was. EDIT: I wanted to throw out there that it wouldn't surprise me if we find out that Jey didn't leave because he was turning his back on the Bloodline, but rather he was ashamed that he defended Sami and the shame propelled him to leave. Will be interesting to see how they interject Rhodes into the storyline leading up to WM39. As far as Jey goes yes they will find a way to explain his walking out so he stays in the bloodline for now because in the end he is still half of the Tag Champs and they aren't just going to forfeit the titles.
My guess is somehow Reigns barely escapes the Elimination Chamber and we move on to Sami/Owens vs. USO's for the tag titles at WM where Jey turns on Jimmy and costs them the titles. They can run the Jey vs. Jimmy storyline throughout the summer and have the big Rock/Reigns showdown at SummerSlam if Rock wants to do it. That way no belts are on the line so you don't have to figure out how to get the belt off Rock quickly afterwards because it will be a 1 and done deal he's not sticking around long term. |

Wyatt needs to get in wrestling shape. Thought the post match stuff with the bloodline was great. Fans still audibly swearing at Roman was chefs kiss.

I don't know if it is much being in shape that he has no in ring skills. Seems he has like 5 moves he can do. I know people love his promos but even that is boring as he keeps going back to the same promo he was doing before he left the WWE. Seems at some point he is will become the feind again.

I personally though the mens portion or the RR was a joke. Why did the have multiple tag teams in there. You had Ricochet and Stroman but no Imperium? They are going up against each other for the title shot...why not have Imperium in ther and just them and Gunther at one point standing there. They could have done better then Booker T....where was Dexter Lumis....now all you ever see him in the background holding an ax....Id rather they go back to him and the Hartwell love angle. Where was Solo Sikoa...I just think the mens side could have done much better with other participants.
And no "Zack Ryder" but we get Chelsea Green? At least the womens side had some unexpected entrants As for the bloodline....now it gets good...hopefully next we see Heyman turn on Roman |

Have my daughter this weekend, so only watching it bit by bit, just finished the Men's RR...
Quote:
I guess technically Edge was a surprise. I mean he's on the roster, and was coming back eventually but I'll touch on that in a bit. Same with Lesnar..technically he was back on RAW but didn't hear many think hed be in the Rumble Quote:
Yeah I wasn't to thrilled with the execution. Everyone "figured" he was going to win...and they even already announced he was in the match...so once he came out at 30 I was like meh that was a dumb decision imo Quote:
I kept waiting after Dom was down to the last few for something, but nah they just let Cody toss him nonchalantly Even more so...what happened with the Kofi spot? His foot was still on the chair, and I assume it was planned as commentary mentioned it, even telling him to stay down when Brock came out...and then nothing, unless I missed it lol Overall match thoughts... Weird choice to start with a rehashed Gunther/Sheamus but meh Miz exchange with Gunther/Sheamus was A+ imo Then a bunch of meh, I mean decent in ring just nothing exciting... Til the place exploded for Brock... And then...he just gets dumped pretty easily by Lashley apparently keeping this thing drawn out for more rematches ![]() Then, to only waste that by having Lashley eliminated by Rollins not even 5 minutes later...umm ![]() Corbin was also a waste, although hilarious getting destroyed by Brock on his way out Bunch more meh...Judgement Day happened and pretty much wasted a Montez Ford appearance ![]() Then Edge...which was cool but we knew what the point was Omos out at #26 only to be eliminated basically immediately after by Braun at #27 happened...kool Logan Paul was interesting choice but didn't hate it. Spot with Ricochet was pretty cool. Not sure I understand him eliminating Rollins unless that's a WM match.. Still think it was a letdown and no brainer with Cody at #30. There was really no intrigue of having to fight through people or last a long time etc...once it was him and Gunther though it was very solid. This match, if he wasn't already, firmly established Gunther as a top dominant force going forward |
