They had 8 games that meant nothing to them. They needed that wake up call... Giannis and the Bucks got it. I'd expect more of this going forward.

Lol at mean mugging a team as a first seed trying to take down an 8th seed missing two of their best players

What are you even talking about lol? Are you talking about after a big dunk or something? Because he’s mean mugging the Knicks in November man, that’s kind of his thing...

Oh I am more of a true believer in Giannis than people know. I expect great things long-term. I am just super long-term on the guy, don't care so much about the short-term stuff although they look great right now! The sky isn't even the limit, Giannis is amazing. To me he's the surest thing in the NBA from a hobby perspective outside of MJ and Lebron.

yeah the great ones never do this...

Quote:
Washington Bullets rookie Don MacLean walked into the Capital Centre in Landover, Md., on the second night of back-to-back games in 1993. The night before, his team, one of the worst in the East, played a tough game in Chicago, almost upsetting the Bulls thanks to 37 points from second-year guard LaBradford Smith.

One night later, they would play Michael Jordan and the Bulls again on the Bullets’ home court.

“As I walked in, the security guard stopped me and told me Jordan had been here since 3:30,” MacLean remembered this week. “And I was like, ‘Oh [expletive] … ’”

“He was exacting revenge.”

Seemingly offended by Smith’s audacity to play well against him and the Bulls, Jordan locked his focus on the smaller, younger Bullets guard and went right at him, nearly equaling Smith’s best game ever by scoring 36 points … in the first half.

The response was swift, cruel and personal.

“I remember [John Paxson] talking to me about it. Somebody else, maybe Horace [Grant], said, ‘Do yourself a favor. When Michael gets the ball, get the hell out of the way,’” Bulls center Will Perdue remembered. “... It was almost like the eulogy was already written, and you were like, ‘Oh, God, I feel sorry for that guy.’”

ps - remember that this was a regular season game too... not even playoffs.

Jordan was a champion though. That’s the difference I feel. These theatrics against an injured underdog just screams of paper tiger theatrics but that’s just me.

At the same age Giannis is now, Jordan had 3 straight 1st round playoff L's. MJ is the goat but Giannis is on the same path.

Well sure, but it’s more about years pro if you’re comparing college guys to non college guys. Jordan won in his seventh year. Let’s see if Giannis wins in his seventh year.

It’s championship or bust for Giannis at this point. Once you win MVP that’s the expectation. Ask Harden about it.

Harden has a playstyle everyone hates and never got hobby love. He's starting to get it now btw. Giannis is a first ticket Hofer with 2 back to back mvps, no mvp hasnt made the HOF, that alone makes him a top 2 young prospect in the league, he will never be a "bust" lmao. His prices when they "dip" it's about 5% and when they run up it's about 200%. He's LBJ levels. There's no other safe non injury prone young HOF bets out there. Luka closest.

Anything short of a championship this year will be a failed season for the Bucks. Nobody doesn’t think he’s a great player. But ultimately it’s rings that matter. Ask Barkley about that, or are you that dumb?

He's 25 with back to back MVPS, probably DPOY too, that's enough to drive. Hard disagree with your take. Anything short of a chip for any team is a "failed season", to be honest. Betting against Giannis is just betting against the sports market, it's fine to do that but it is what you're doing. Have fun with that.

MJ was 28 when he won his first. Lebron was 27. Giannis has a couple years before he should feel that pressure... and this year isn't over yet - he's got a real shot.

Default Giannis "The Greak Freak" Antetokounmpo Thread

Great news guys!!!

People around here are getting so hyped on Luka that it feels like he's passed Giannis as the hype guy and Giannis is no longer the forum's #1 darling!

Which means!!....

I get to root for him again! And to honor that I will be showing off my small but solid Giannis collection in my Flip thread, and re-posting each card to here.

It's only 4 cards, but I guarantee you I'll be showing some stuff that nobody else in this thread has.

We'll start with the Pop 2 Gem.... and it only gets better from here.

I mean a lot of people seem to like what you have to say so I'm perfectly fine with you staying quiet while I pick up some more stuff.

I think it's amazing that Giannis is averaging an under the radar 31/16 and 6 so far this playoffs.

People still shook because of game 1 and they fact that they were supposed to roll the Magic.

The Bucks will start to get more attention come round 2.

Yeah it’s interesting how anything less than a finals appearance is going to be a disappointment for most while this season he is still going to win his 2nd MVP and has a chance at DPOY

Nature of being really good. I mean Lebron is on the Mount Rushmore of all time greats and he didn’t get the respect until he started winning titles. Hell 3 titles later and some people still don’t give him due respect. Giannis has to prove he can lead a championship team. I think he can do it but actually doing it isn’t a given.

I predict Giannis cards will go up as we enter the 2nd round and more eyes see what he's doing out there.
