TB12 came back in under a year, Ditto Gronk, Carlson Palmer, Jason Kelce, Jeremy Maclin, etc etc. Acunas extreme youth and natural athleticism bode very well for his chances of a fast and total recovery

That would be a great thing.

I know that muscular structure has a lot to do with it.
When I was in college a RB tire his ACL and the trainers said because his legs were so strong his rehab wouldn’t take as long as he was a thinner receiver type. I don’t know much about that but I do know he was back sooner than most anticipated. A DB tore his almost the same time and his took longer. I don’t think there is a “one size” rehab for everyone. I do think Acuna will have state of the art medical care though so he could be back at a decent time. I also have heard a complete tear is longer to recover from than a partial tear.

Part of this is the Ohtani effect part of it is because people are buying the cards so they now watch the games and part of it is just people adapting to what they see others tweeting about. The game has a great situation on its hands with transcendent young talent, which obviously is why manfred and Tony Clark will blow it up with a prolonged strike

I do see more people/collectors following today’s game but very few take the time to study the history of the game. That’s why when comparing today’s players to greats from the 20s-50s there is a “those guys aren’t as good as some say” argument. Not saying you believe that but I’ve heard it among many younger fans that I talk to.

I’ve always thought that the people who end up being big baseball fans and are students of the game and it’s history are almost always people that played the game at some point themselves. It’s hard to appreciate what a beautiful game baseball is until you’ve played it yourself, and it’s almost impossible to understand how impressive it is to see guys hitting like Ohtani or pitching like DeGrom unless you’ve played the game. I played football in college but baseball was always my first love, I’ve made it my personal mission to evangelize the beauty of the game to the nonbelievers in my social circles. This season it has been amazing to see how many more people are tuning in to baseball for sure. I mean to be honest the astros sign stealing scandal, and the way it unfolded on Twitter as a massively viral moment, actually was very helpful towards getting people interested. The intrigue alone drew eyeballs that ended up continuing to keep up with baseball after the uproar died down

In the baseball's not dead side of the ledger, youth baseball appears to be booming with major increases (3,000,000+) over the last decade. It is now the second most played organized team sport and is very close to catching basketball and should soon if the trends for each sport continues. Youth softball is also booming. There is a large chunk of the youth population, both boys and girls, that can easily become the next generation of fans.

Agreed. If MLB is hurting for fans in the future, it will only be because the league couldn’t get out of its own way

I think we just have to wait and see how he recovers from this. It certainly is not guaranteed that even with the best medical care he will be just like new. The odds certainly seem to be he will play again, and play well.
What happens if he does have another serious injury? Now that he’s had one, he’s at increased likelihood for another.

From a hobby standpoint, in two years there will invariably, without a doubt be another kid prospectors will hype to replace him. Maybe only in one year with next year’s draft.

If anyone's got a Sapphire bat down I'd go as high as 500 USD.

Several Patriots came back from ACL / MCL… Brady, Gronkowski, Welker, etc. and continued to be the most dominant player at their position for years…

I only have one base card of him so not thinking in those terms at all, but yes that seemed inevitable soon even if he stayed healthy, there's always the next can't miss kid that people bought low and want to hype.

If memory serves Brady never had another significant injury.
