Very true, but also I'd add it's becoming especially bad with these parasocial relationships people have with streamers on twitch or youtube. "Donate $50 and I'll say your name during the stream!"

Social media "influencers" of all types are just so strange to me. These are people with no real ability other than to attract attention. And normally, attracting attention is the strategy of a good marketer because from there, you can XYZ with engaged people. Here however, the end goal is actually the attention. It's an entire industry built on "look at me" and it's amazing just how large it has become.

Sunday morning. Wake up, read the paper (I know), go to church (I know) then get the kids geared up for a baseball game at noon (I know), take em to a restaurant afterwards for a quick bite or ice cream (I know), then run home to catch the start of the 4pm football game (I know). Just in that day, you interact with a lot of people in different settings; and you get your fill.

It's not like that anymore. I miss it.

The irony here is that a group of people who believe their group is racist (among other things) has decided to cancel itself, rather than try to reform itself. A group ... who has 100% turnover every handful of years mind you, cannot figure out how to fix the problem they perceive.

In the midst of everything going on, I think it's super important to find common ground. Our American society isn't perfect, but we've made a lot of progress over the years.

Just look at how black QBs performed in Week 1:

Cam Newton - Won. Had a big game.

Lamar Jackson - Won. Had a big game.

Patrick Mahomes - Won. Had a big game.

DeShaun Watson - Lost to Mahomes, but had a good game.

Tyrod Taylor - Won, despite a relatively poor game.

Dwayne Haskins - Won. Gave an inspirational speech at halftime while coach Rivera was getting an IV for his cancer treatment and led a big second half comeback.

Teddy Bridgewater - Lost a close game while playing well.

Kyler Murray - Won and had a big game.

Russell Wilson - Won and had a big game.

Das Prescott - It sucks that he probably had the worst performance and lost.

In fact, the three favorites to win NFL MVP according to Vegas are Jackson, Mahomes, and Murray.

It sucks things have gotten so complicated, because sports is one of the few arenas in life where everyone has to play by the same rules and the points are worth the same regardless of who scores them. In a time of division, sports should be celebrated for bringing us together.

I caught that much. It seemed like an "I quit / you're fired" type thing, but I couldn't figure out what actually happened or why funding was getting pulled in the first place. Like, what history of sexual assault and racism? Granted, I skimmed and only read it once...
