I sold my Jagr jersey for $55 plus shipping yesterday. Bought it for $12.99.

I went to Savers today at lunch, question for you guys. They had 3 Tommy Bahama floral shirts, all 100% silk. They had two Smalls, both with the Macy's tags still on them (obviously Brand New), at $16.99 each. That price scared me, because selling it at $25.00 on ebay plus shipping only gives a couple dollars profit. For those with experience, should those get more than $25? I know size Small isn't ideal. Which brings me to my next one, they had a used XL at $9.99. That seems like a win right?

Thanks for any advice!

I found a Jason Witten XXL Pro Bowl Jersey Saturday for $14.99, I couldn't get it in the cart quick enough. When I got to the check out I just happened to look at it a little harder, it had Kool-Aid stains on the white numbers . Put it back and left with my head hanging low .

for me, its hit and miss. sometimes you list something and it sells really high and surprises you. for example: last summer i bought a vintage IU hoosiers '92 final four snapback on ebay (for myself to wear/own) for less than $10 shipped. didnt end up wearing it much so i listed it a few months later for like $40 and it sold within days.

then there are times you think youve got a really cool item and it sits. i think more or less you have to be patient. thats really the thing. i also bought a cool NJ Devils vintage button up jacket for $25. didnt wear it much so listed it at 49.99..it sat for probably two months then bam, sold for my asking price.

take good pictures, be precise with the description. youll be surprised how well your listings do.

Very well said, especially on having stuff that sits. Ive been thrifting full time for a little over a year, and there's a lot of money in it. I'm able to help support my family and have a little extra play money for cards or whatever. Patience, IMO, is the main ingredient to success in thrifting! Enjoy seeing what you sell things for!

is ebay the preferred way that you guys sell your stuff or is it another way? If you do ebay, do you do it auction style or fixed price with a buy it now and best offer option? Just curious of what seems to work the best for moving items.

I'm no expert by any means, but I do ebay with BIN/BO. Sold another jersey this morning, paid $7.99 and sold it for $29.99 plus shipping.

Some people in here sell on instagram as well, they have built up a loyal customer base.

I use eBay on occasion but sell most of my items through my Instagram page. We have built up a nice amount of customers through the power of the almighty hashtag! For most of my sports related items I use Instagram. But for high end finds eBay is usually the way to go!

Went back today, celebrated the jersey sale with a couple more pickups. They still had a bunch more PHI Eagles jerseys (either a huge PHI fan moved here or we get tons of donations from that area, because there's a ton of Eagles/Flyers stuff). I saw these two and settled on them.

The warmup jacket cost me $7.99, $2.99 for the tee shirt.

Thanks for looking.

Tom

major scores at the goodwill for me today. printed off a 20% coupon from facebook and found these gems. the jacket ive seen quite often. its too small for me or Id keep it. to put into context though, my buddy bought a very similar nylon style IU jacket off a guy at the bars last year for $100 (he was drunk). should sell pretty decent. same with the vintage crewnecks. usually easy money. again, might actually keep these two but if they dont fit and i do sell, $20-35 on a good day.

jacket was $4.99, crewnecks $3.99 i think + 20% off
