I'd say this season has been mediocre so far. We will see if he can catch fire in the summer again, but even if he does he is going to need a Judge like month to catch-up to his 2023 numbers.

With all that being said I do agree his pricing was/is too high.

All star because the event was in Seattle, statistically he had no place being there. Same goes for MVP voting, popularity and how well the Mariners did are the reasons he ended that high. Looking at the seasonal stats, .275/.485/.818 they don’t scream great. Of course he did get some accolades but he is supposed to be a good player who carries the Mariners so that is basically what can be expected.

Huge M's fan here. His card prices, based on play, are not justified in my mind. Love Julio, charisma for days and super marketable. I want to see him kill it. Defensively, he's been pretty good. But nobody cares about that. He needs to be crushing the ball and this whole 'starts slow' shtick is getting old quick.

When talking about Julio's cards being over priced I assume you are talking about BCA and other high end cards? All his low end 2019 and 2022 cards have dropped a ton. You can now get a topps chrome update purple refractor for like $10 or less.

Also a big mariners fan - agree with all you say.

And also weighing things down, even if he recovers - he just has soooooooo many cards from 2022. Going to be hard for demand to ever soak all of those up. The standard bearers should be ok if the offense is there but lots of the chafe variants are going to find it tough to have decent growth - even if the offense is what we want it to be.

I was actually under the impression that the 2022 Topps update print run was modest compared to 2022 series 1 that was like 1,000,000+

I just bought my first two JRod cards this past off season, and will probably look to add more this year. His numbers the past two years kinda remind of Kyle Tucker, who also sometimes got off to slow starts before figuring it out this year.

I’ve got the TCU refractor/299 and most of the centering on the other ones I looked at was pretty rough.
