Futera seems to be getting very popular at the moment.

I can't get my head around paying that much for unlicensed cards

Well, Futera was pretty much the only game in town for quite a while, especially if you wanted players in national team jerseys, and they produced quite a few gorgeous looking cards/sets over the years.

I've been working on the "Legends" insert set from 2009/10, and although I've finished Series 2, I'm still about 10-15 cards short of finishing Series 1.

I think it's the hobby product lull as Topps and Panini cross over to 23/24. Breakers need something fresh to push to degens and Leaf and Futera fit the bill.

It appears we are going through the great 2018-2022 base card slab dump at the moment

People offering 50% under value, cards listed still at 50% over value.

Weird times.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I've never considered Futera to be "unlicensed".

They've consistently made very high-quality cards, and for quite a while their products were the best on the market each year (from roughly 2005-2017).

the majority of them don't even have club/country badges on

I mean, it's nearly as bad as this

Not true at all....pretty much all the Futera products from the 2000's have country badges and feature images of players in full uniform.

Not everything, but most.....

They may have done two decades ago, but they don't now and largely look dumb as hell.

first four cards that came up searching for Futera.

no nation badge on the first, nation badge manufacturers logos and competition logo removed on the second, no nation badge and heavily photoshopped kit on the third... and no manufacturers logo on the fourth.

I know they have struck individual deals before - Arsenal, Liverpool, Japan, Portugal.

I was surprised and impressed with the PSA 10 MGK Messi at Goldin, which ended near all-time highs at $322k. Someone asked me a couple of months ago how much I thought the next one would go for and I thought around 50% off the highs, turned out to be very wrong. Some of the rarer obscure Pele's did well too, and the Musiala super did OK (especially as the Obsidian 1/1 took a 75% haircut). Trash continues to head for the wood chipper but I feel quality, non hot-potato items have stabilised.

I pretty much liquidated 99% of my ultra modern collection. Only things I've kept around are on card, one of ones, /5 /10 and below depending on the set, and 'top tier' sets such as Eminence, Flawless.

It felt pretty good to be honest.

Seriously - I'm seeing Calcio pumped every single day now.

What gives?

They've put in a 2 box limit which has slowed it down this year, usually goes very fast and think it has better auto odds and auto checklist than usual.

I managed to pick two up. I don't really like many of Topps 'on demand' sets, but Simplicity is really nice.

Yeah seemed worth a go for $115 all in with a coupon for 2. Probably won’t ship until April, but it’s not a huge amount of money for clean looking cards, 2 parallels per box, and 1:2 autos. Some nice stuff on the auto list too.

Missed this drop, but these are some of the nicest looking cards out there in my opinion. Wish this were a more widely distributed set. Will be looking to pick up singles so post your breaks!

Passing on the UEFA knockout boxes. Fair amount more expensive than the Simplicity boxes with basically the same format, and shipping continues to drive up the cost as long as they continue to make so many products euro-only. Would be nice to see some of these on Topps US even if they are smaller print run.

Speaking of potential soccer worth....

From boston_sports_cards on Instagram. Ready to corner the entire PSA 10 market for a cool $5.2 million

Or at least get the shipping cost under control. $20 for what's probably a 1 pound box seems excessive.

Haha.. you guys don't know how good you've got it.

If I buy ANYTHING on Topps US, and want it shipped to the UK, it's a flat fee of $60.

Topps UK are sending out at cost. If I were to send you a random hobby box by parcel post, fully tracked it would cost $19.50. $20 for fully tracked, international parcel post is extremely cheap.

You have it better than literally everyone else, yet it's always people in the US doing all the moaning. Collecting anything in this hobby is massively expensive for anyone outside of the USA

In fairness, we have more retards to moan so it's probably proportionally equal.

Only this guy would consider these couple of innocuous comments to be “moaning.” It’s already February with only Prizm PL as a mainstream soccer product released, and it would have been nice for

Merlin
Deco
Gold
Simplicidad
Knockout

to have had some amount of availability in the US.

For a $60 box or $120 or whatever, tacking on another $20+ is a lot, regardless of comparisons with folks in other countries.
