Default Topps 582 Montgomery Club

OK I guess I lied earlier, with all of the comments I decided to buy & try my hand at flipping to recoup some of the MC membership fee back.

What’s the best method, just place on ebay as soon as I get it, auction or BIN? I actually am yet to ever sell any cards/wax on ebay, just buy.

Appreciate the help/suggestions.

Can you get retroactive points for purchases? Or do you have to have some extension open on your browser when buying it.

TopCashback had nothing to do with the Topps Reward points system. Topps was just one of the sellers from which you could earn cashback if you went to their site via TopCashback before making a purchase. It was something like 3% or 6%, I believe. Currently, the only site I buy from that participates with TopCashback is eBay, and the cashback rate for collectibles is about 1% or less.

Gonna guess this equates to ~ $25 profit if shipping included. Purchase w/ taxes from Topps ~ $200.
275 with 27 to ebay’s cut = 248
20 to USPS = 228

And then my math takes me to $228 - $200=
~ $28 profit.

All depends what your time is worth.
If I can get a $300 ebay sale I’ll take it which is what mine is listed for to make a whopping $50

So, so many of people who flip wax for seemingly low margins are just cycling credit card balances for points and miles.

I'll break this myself (w/ kids) unless it reaches 400+ per box. I'll give it 6 months or so.

Not to mention, a lot of incorrect assumptions were made:

1. Sales tax => ~$20 sales tax only applies to select states, most are paying much less
2. Sales platform => There's other (and more profitable) platforms than eBay (aka more profit)
3. Shipping label => Should be half of what was estimated (+ a few bucks if adding additional insurance).

You are't going to get rich flipping wax. To me it's more about the extension of the hobby if you're already selling online anyways. It's not that hard to just slap a new label on a box and drop it off when you ship your other stuff. Now, if flipping single boxes is exclusively what you do, to me its more work than it's worth having to go out of your way to the USPS etc. Another point worth making is that, recently, 90% of the limited Topps.com releases have seen the prices be almost double within a short time span. Sapphire Update, Cosmic Chrome, Black & White, Ohtani 50/50, Ginter X, etc. So maybe it's worth the gamble to buy and sit on it for a month as opposed to flipping it on release. It's speculating, sure. But I feel like once you've seen some boxes of any product get ripped you can tell if it'll catch on or not. I think after you see a couple boxes of this get ripped you'll know whether to sit tight or just get your free case of beer out of it. Long term I'm not sure how much weight any Star Wars products will have (from action figures to cards). Star Wars has almost no new nostalgia being created (most Disney iterations have been terrible and teh good ones have just pandered to fandom)...and that's coming from someone who loves Star Wars. Ask any kid under 18 about Star Wars and it's basically viewed how we looked at Six Million Dollar Man growing up. Star Wars has kind of become an old fogie IP.

Forgive me, my WA state sales tax ~ 10% and so $20 is what I paid. Sure OR is a no sales tax state if that’s where you reside.

Would gladly pay $10 to ship instead of $20 ($20 was my guess to take to PO for ground advantage).

Anyhow my numbers are a pretty good ROM.

I’m interested in other sales touchpoints, FB marketplace? I don’t FB but am familiar with Craigslist

Marvel will maybe be on par with Star Wars when this generation has disposable income and real jobs but it's my opinion that the mythos of Star Wars will far outlast any of the other IPs you mentioned. The kids that watched Clone Wars are starting to have real jobs. The kids that are watching Skeleton Crew will one day have real jobs. I see no missing generations here. That's my opinion, take it or leave it.

But they don't need to. Kids aren't what sustains the value of any nostalgia driven product; it's people with disposable income. The Star Wars fan base may be aging, but there's at least 30-50 years left of tapping into that well.

Then you add in what Disney is doing to expand Star Wars and trust me, the kids of today will have plenty of excitement for Mandalorian and whatever. It's a gift that will keep on giving.

Marvel is older than Star Wars.

Even if this were all true, if all you are doing it trying to cover the cost of the Montgomery Club and don't care about this product, $25 helps.

True & why mine is on the bay, though $300 a lil better than $275

To address a post above ^^^^ a few back; I probably would not spend more than $9-10 in shipping WITH Signature Confirmation via ebay shipping labels and Ground Advantage, might be a buck or so less depending if its destination is within the postal region

And my sales taxes are around %5.5 here so my total was 190.xx, many here are tax exempt
