Well, you're wrong. They're not "promo" or "promo type" by definition.

So keep calling them what you want, but promo or promo type is wrong.

I agree with him, "promo" is fair, if not 100% accurate - They are on demand cards that don't require any luck or pull.

Promo cards are a completely different thing, they are usually freebies to sell advertise / sell another product, eg the Industry Summit Chrome Bundesliga Haaland, the Nike Ronaldo and Nike Jordan. The Topps Now aren't that, they are simply ondemand; printed to order, as many or as little as people want. They aren't my favourite cards but they exist and I can't put the genie back in the bottle.

Most of us go back and forth over players we're likely never to see. You go around the baseball board? They're arguing about players that have been dead for decades.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on the other Haaland topps now cards from 2019-2020? They’re all pretty low numbered.

So.

It doesn't make any difference if you agree with him or not. All that means is you are wrong too.

They are not promo type cards. To call them such is not "fair" as you stated, since it's most definitely wrong.

I don't like calling people wrong. When it's warranted, and ONLY when it's warranted, I do so with caution. In this case, you are both, without any doubt, wrong by definition. it is not opinion. It is fact.

I agree Haaland is a rare occurrence. But it's not rare to see NOW cards go way up in value.

This card...

...Sold raw for $900 last week:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2019-Topps-...p2047675.l2557

I paid $4 for it direct from Topps 18 months ago. I'd call that a substantial gain, and it's not a rookie card.

I paid $4 for it direct from Topps 14 months ago. It is NOT #11.

I could go on and on. There are all kinds of examples of good returns with the NOW brand that people simply aren't aware of. But heck, what do I know? I'm out there risking $4 on each of these cards. I suppose I could be out a TON if they end up being worth $0.

Will they ever be worth $0?

Exactly my point. You are using cards that were made very early in Topps Now that were made in the 100s to push investing in a brand that now cards are printed in the 1000s sometimes over 10,000. It benefits YOU for Topps Now to be viewed as a high quality brand as you have been pushing that agenda for months.

https://www.topps.com/one-to-watch-m...g-card-59.html

Print Run-13733

https://www.topps.com/cards-collecti...card-0002.html

Print Run-4994

It's very unlikely we'll see a small print run of an up and coming hot rookie in the future with just under 200 cards printed so using the Haaland #11 to justify buying stacks and stacks of cards that will likely be printed in the 1000s is not a good comparison for me.

I don't like the brand, the fact that some of the cards have really taken off and are worth a lot doesn't matter to me. I could have been buying these up for the past year at $4 a piece just like you and made a decent return but I didn't because I don't believe in nor do I like the product. It's the same reason I haven't got into digital cards. I like cards that come out of physical packs.

You just continue to hype it cause we all know you will and I will continue to call it junk and we can just ignore each other.

Except your point keeps making little sense.

A Haaland NOW card from just two weeks ago printed exactly 322 copies. You’re right...it’s not 178 copies, but it’s FAR from “1,000s”.

And those cards I posted aren’t “very early Topps NOW cards”, as you stated. Comments like that continue to show you know very little about the product you keep trying to crap on. People like you are why I keep helping others understand the opportunities surrounding the NOW brand.

You can’t collect or invest in NOW cards now because you think it would make you look like a hypocrite, so you’re going to keep missing out. At least we can count on you not increasing the PRs.

Still arguing about NOW cards!

While not my cup of tea either, in the end I wish I'd bought as many as Mr Wheeler. I like money too.

PS. Excited to watch the next match. 2 weeks is a long wait!

I said rookie card, the one with a print run of 322 is also NOT a rookie card as it is a 20/21 card.

August 2019
Feb 2019
Jan 2020

They are all in the second year 19/20 of the product which I would consider early before they took off when the print runs were really low.

I just told you why I won't collect or invest in them. Same reason I don't buy or collect the Lost Rookies cards. If people want to collect them great, not for me. I don't like them so I invest in things I like such as I just purchased 2 more boxes of 2006 WC Germany Soccer and I have been investing in those for some time. They didn't cost $4 though.

Yes, you do not have to worry about me increasing the PR I can assure you of that.

Yeah, you sure are trying to bring knowledge to the masses. More like increase your investment so excuse me if I don't quite see you as Mother Theresa here more like patting yourself on the back every chance you get

I'm sure you roll around in your Topps Now cards like Scrooge McDuck swimming in his money bin just be careful and don't bend them when you do as you don't want to ruin that $4 investment.

Ok, now we can go back to ignoring each other but I know you'll respond. One thing I can always count on with people with a high post count is they will never not get the last word in.

If you want to give good (unbiased) advice using the same logic, telling everyone to buy Lebron Panini Instant's (or even Doncic) would make much more sense with your argument no? Same structure, way less print run, bigger sportscards community. I know it doesn't fit your inventory, but if you really want to help everyone this would be better advice?

Also calling this card a Haaland Card is a bit of a stretch to make your argument no?

Not a Topps Now collector in the first place, but I actually like them even less since I've seen folks shamelessly pimp them on here.

I have no need to ignore you. You keep saying we’re ignoring each other, yet you clearly can’t ignore me.

It’s easy from standpoints like yours to misjudge one’s intentions when trying to enlighten people of opportunities in this hobby.

The best way to show others of the NOW opportunities is to illustrate using successful cards I know about. The cards I know most about are those I’m interested in, and they happen to be in my collection.

My NOW collection is a small piece of my PC. I shed light on this brand right now because it has been overlooked. People can’t find product at reasonable prices, yet they can buy high-quality Topps cards in as big of quantities as they like for a solid week straight, without anyone price gouging them. And low and behold, they’ve been climbing in price, sometimes significantly.

I won’t brag about the rest of my collection, but if you knew what it entailed, I doubt you’d truly believe I’m trying to pump my NOW collection.

I find it interesting that you continually try to crap on this brand, yet you concede it’s growing popularity by stating increased print runs. I wonder...was Haaland a “hot rookie card” when card #11 was available for sale? Might there be others that people overlook at first that breakout and become stars? I doubt we’ve seen the last NOW #11 story to make its way into our hobby. You say we have. One of us will be right. Perhaps it will be you.

I own some Panini Instant cards. The ones I have that I purchased directly from Panini are very poor in quality compared to Topps NOW. In fact, the quality is so bad, I can’t see myself ever recommending that brand since I won’t likely buy more because of what they’ve sent me in the past.

There are other aspects of Instant that I don’t care for. So I don’t recommend them. I hope they’ve been getting better putting out quality cards. I don’t know if they have or have not.

That Haaland card is a stretch in today’s collecting perspectives, but I feel that will change if he becomes a bigger star. That card is a decent pickup given prominent, clear images of him on both sides. I don’t think there are very many like it in our hobby. Therefore, it’s worth taking a chance on.

Not liking them in the first place and liking them less now makes very little difference.

It wasn’t long ago when baseball collectors talked negatively about the soccer market. Then a few months ago, they bought UEFA Sapphire as fast as they could, and now wish they would have purchased more.

I know your interests probably won’t change, but I can assure others will, as it has already begun.

Well, I went from receptive and mildly interested--as a purchaser of Topps Now from another sport in the past--to a hard no, and hoping that folks avoid Topps Now going forward. That's not nothing. And I doubt I'm alone in my thinking.

And let's not pretend you're here to benevolently turn collectors on to something of value to them. All this pumping and flexing is clearly all about you.

Congrats on the #11 hoard. That one's clearly going to work out for you. But it's most likely an aberration.

People are wisely skeptical of buying into print-to-order cards, because the very moment they actually become popular, they become massively overproduced and people get burned badly. Kind of like what happened with the Topps Project 2020 cards. Early adopters (like you) come out ahead in such a scenario, but the latecomers get stuck holding the bag.

So your performance here paints you as a huckster who is eager to pump and dump what will ultimately become garbage product on soccer collectors.

If that's the look you're going for, then keep at it. If that's not the look you're going for, then you need to dial it back a few notches.

Proceed how you will.

I'm curious, do you avoid all products that you perceive is pumped on this site? 99% of the product out there is pumped on this site.

There's so much out there to buy. Unless your budget is unlimited (or unless you're only in it for the short term flip, which I am not), you have to pass on a lot of stuff, and only buy what you really like. The decision to pass on print-to-order products is a pretty easy one in this context.

Yeah....pretty annoying to be honest.

To each their own but I personally like pack pulled cards.

With that being said, we are still seeing some incredible Haaland sales out there with Topps Chrome Bundesliga still at the top of everyone's lists. I setup at a card show here in Indianapolis (I was the only soccer guy) and the most asked about Haaland card I had in my case was the Chrome Bundesliga Refractor PSA 10.

Looking forward to their match against Man City and hoping to see 2-3 goals from him
