I should have prefaced that the reason for my question is that because I had to contact Topps about my order (We live in a community with a mailroom with package lockers and unless the package is address to my wife, it will likely get sent back or get held up) and they would not change the addressee name nor let me cancel the order and re-order. They claim that as soon as an order is placed that a mailing label is created. I called BS on that one and just wanted to check here to see if anyone rec'd boxes they ordered from Topps.

That said, the lack of a city name in the top color band is going to hold down the value of both his and Trouts 2023 Heritage cards in general, because it makes them so ugly.

I collect Heritage Black Chromes, and will not be chasing either the Trout or Ohtani this year for that reason.

Completely agree. They look stupid. Why can they not include a city name ? Additionally, some goofballs think they are variations or errors

Just answering my own question…this is so idiotic.

When Art Moreno bought the team, he changed the name from the Anaheim Angels to the Los Angeles Angels (technically The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim because of a lease agreement for the stadium with the city of Anaheim). No one in Anaheim or Los Angeles (residents and city governments alike) liked the name change and Anaheim even filed a lawsuit. It was dismissed and the team branded itself as The Angels without any city designation. Up until recently, there wasn’t any official Angels merchandise with Los Angeles (or Anaheim) on it. The lack of city designation extends to the MLB agreement with Topps. Cards have had just "Angels" for the team name even when other teams include the city/state since 2005.

Meanwhile, MLB website refers to them as LA Angels, so what the heck is the big deal ?

If anybody wants to get a read on how much of this is out there (and how little of it has been opened so far), consider that there have been a total of 191 Black Chromes listed/sold on EBay so far out of a total of 7400....i.e. just under 3%.

Even accounting for the fact that many cards do NOT get sold through EBay, I'm guessing that less than 10% of the total print run has been opened so far.

I think being so close to Series 2 release date has killed Heritage this year. Everyone is just waiting for Series 2 for all the big Rookie color.

Certainly doesn't help that the 1974 design is pretty "meh", and that the Trout and Ohtani cards are ruined visually by the lack of a city name.

Well....aside from Corbin Carroll, the other big name rookies are struggling....Walker is back in the minors and Volpe should be.

They're just as likely to be the next Bobby Witt Jr. as they are the next Bo Bichette or Vlad Jr.......

It will go lower than that, unless multiple rookies go HAM in the second half and become THAT guy. People have already turned away from Heritage for a multitude of reasons...most importantly IMO the horrible release date change. If this isn't 'blown out' on Black Friday for $720/case I'd be surprised.
