So tired of the annual “let’s retaliate against Acuna” competition. MLB should start handing out suspensions like popcorn. I’m tired of this “it’s part of the game.” If MLB wants to stay vital, they need to do some work to keep their stars on the field.

I don’t think anyone is arguing it was intentional.

The frustration is that opponents know that pitching him inside is just about the only way to get him out. Which is fine - but you better command your stuff.

Megill didnt. And he almost seriously injured Ronald. I’d hope someone in the Braves’ dugout said something to the tune of “if you can’t throw it inside without taking his head off then either man up and get it over the plate or take a seat on the bench.”

Pitchers are going to pitch inside. Sometimes that means guys get unintentionally hit, and that sucks. Unless he’s showing a patterned lack of command beyond that, there is no point in getting so worked up. And my prior response was addressed to someone whose statement pretty clearly makes the assumption he was targeted.

We’ll never know, of course, and I don’t mean to be argumentative, but Lindor and Alonso were hit in the 1st game of the doubleheader, and Showalter is a known quantity in these situations. That pitch was nowhere near the zone. I wouldn’t be so quick to exclude an intentional HBP or at least Megill trying to play some retributive chin music at the Braves big star and not having the control to execute it safely.

I honestly think the situation and immediate response lead me to believe it wasn’t intentional, but you’re right that there is no way to know for certain. I get the frustration of seeing it, intentional or not. Acuna is one of the brightest players in the game, it’s better when he’s on the field and healthy!

Completely agree with you, the game is so much better with Ronald on the field! Let’s hope he’s back out there soon! Glad this wasn’t worse than it now appears.

100% intentional pitch. That fastball was at a minimum meant to be up and in and get him to not extend over the plate, AT A MINIMUM. I love the its "0-2 count, why would he hit him argument?" Cause if he is obvious about it, he's probably suspended 5 games at least. First two fastballs perfectly over the middle of the plate and the third was at my mans head, how do you lose command on the same pitch? This comes after the biggest bomb in Mets stadium and 3-5 performance. First batter of the game mind you. Buck is pretty school, I don't know man, a lot of sketchiness in that pitch in my opinion.

100% intentional. If you know Baseball, you know why. I can give a handful of reasons why it was intentional vs the sole argument of why it wasn’t (he lost control).
