I wouldn't call Series 1 the biggest product of the year. Their flagship product and first major release, sure. I would think Topps Chrome will sell a lot better than Series 1 if they equally produced Chrome to Series 1 numbers. There are many years going back to 1952 where outer worldly players weren't included in Series 1. That' doesnt mean Topps doesn't like them. They are likely keeping Gorman, Witt and maybe J-Rod for 2023. Since they aren't in 2022 as RC's, does that make them bad rookies?

1997 didn't have very many Ortiz rookie cards. A couple Fleer and a Donruss Signature come to mind. Had Topps locked him in Topps Chrome or Finest, it would be a different story. I'm pretty sure is Donruss Sig Century goes for a hefty price.

Yeah, the Series 1 vs 2 argument is scraping the bottom of the troll barrel. As you said, there always big veteran names in S2. If anything, Topps hurts itself by not distributing veteran stars more evenly between S1 and S2. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Those cards did not go down because of Yordan's performance or the fact that he is a DH.

^----- Was waiting for that. Aren't there parallels too, gold and platinum? Imagine what those would go for in that grade. For the Astros to truly overcome that hate, Yordan and Tucker have to be a big reason.

Also with the Universal DH, I have a feeling writers will give them more credit. Ortiz pretty much opened the door for these new guys to come in and be able to get in.
Looking at his stats, he had a great career and if any modern day DH gets over 500 HR, 50 WAR and some other career milestones then they SHOULD be getting in. Ortiz never won a regular season MVP, but did get an ALCS & WS MVP. If they are able to win it once during their career, get voted as an All-Star half their career then they could have a better career than Ortiz (that is easier said than done). The only issue with the Universal DH is now players may try to hang-on (Pujols & Miggy come to mind) and be a DH late in their career to get those milestones. I can see in their mid-30s and older: Acuna, Soto, Trout, Harper and a few others DH more often to save their bodies to extend their career taking up games where if they have a Yordan (young DH) they will either sit or force them in the field (flashbacks to Franmil Reyes playing the OF).

The last couple of years we’ve seen 3 DH go into the HOF. Baines (oof), Edgar and Ortiz. I think with the universal DH now we will see the DH guys get more attention and consideration for what they do having an impact greater than they have before.

Anyone scoop that psa 9 orange sapphire auto? I put up $744, but didn't want to go higher due to the streaky auto... $860 is still a great price though.

Not me. But compared to the Chrome orange auto psa 9 for 1455$ couple weeks ago I think that's a good deal. Thought it would break 1k.
