Just saw "The Skin I Live In"

OMG, so truly horrifying...WOW. One of the most intense, bizarre, so psychologically crazy.

A must watch.

For fans of the "Exorcist", the similarly themed series "Outcast" just wrapped up its 1st season on Cinemax and the show was pretty great right off the bat, with plenty of scares throughout.

I'm looking forward to next season already.

I saw this not too long after it came out, about 5 years ago.
Can't really ever go wrong with Almodovar.
Nice to see him try his hand in this genre, definitely unusual for him.
I second the recommendation.

just saw one of those "sponsored" posts on FB for a movie called Morgan. the trailer looks excellent. not sure if it would qualify as full-blown horror though.

Will have to check this thread out from start to finish. Halloween baby here and I love the horror/thriller/slasher genre

Well it would be rude of me if I didnt drop a movie or two, so since I re-watched these 2 movies last night I will use them

The Collector

THE COLLECTOR follows the story of handyman and ex-con Arkin, who aims to repay a debt to his ex-wife by robbing his new employers country home. Unfortunately for Arkin, a far worse enemy has already laid claim to the property - and the family. As the seconds tick down to midnight, Arkin becomes a reluctant hero trapped by a masked Collector in a maze of lethal invention - the Spanish Inquisition as imagined by Rube Goldberg - while trying to rescue the very family he came to rob

The Collection

Arkin escapes with his life from the vicious grips of "The Collector" during an entrapment party where he adds beautiful Elena to his "Collection." Instead of recovering from the trauma, Arkin is suddenly abducted from the hospital by mercenaries hired by Elena's wealthy father. Arkin is blackmailed to team up with the mercenaries and track down The Collector's booby trapped warehouse and save Elena (Shooter McGavin from Happy Gilmore makes a cameo in this movie)

Not mainstream so to say, but if you enjoyed SAW (same writers) then more then likely you will enjoy this. Like most movies with sequels, I prefer the 1st one over the 2nd.

EDIT: So I read that Saw: Legacy and Jeepers Creepers 3 will be coming out in the 2nd half of '17. Also it looks like John Carpenter will be making another Halloween movie. Im pumped for that, even though Rob Zombie effing killed it with his remakes! Rob Zombie movies are the best. Love House of 1000 Corpses and Devils Rejects.

Im also looking forward to Zombie's new movie 31 which will be showing in my neck of the woods on Sept. 1st. Guess its a limited theatrical release from what I read online.

yeah i felt that way too. not that Tim Curry's costume was crazy good, it just looked less... flamboyant? Which is something weird to say for a clown.

I saw it this past weekend and thought it was great.
Good summer for horror and this one was better than Conjuring 2 and Lights Out.

I believe someone suggested this movie - Clown (2014) and therefore I gave it a chance...

My daughter and I watched it...both enjoyed it.

I'm going to see 31 after work. I like Rob Zombie but his movies are the ultimate hit or miss for me. I'm really looking forward to this one though!

After hating the first Conjuring, I figured I'd give the second one a shot last night just to see if there was any improvement. There wasn't. How these movies based around two of the biggest frauds in their field keep raking in money is beyond me. All James Wan seems to be capable of lately is loud noise, jump scare, loud noise, lights flicker, loud noise. That's not horror. I really wish he'd pull away from these crappy Conjuring/Insidious movies long enough to have a hand in Saw: Legacy. It might inspire some creativity in him again.

Frauds? Let's be real about this...there are different type of horror films. Everyone enjoys one type if not all. I personally enjoy and prefer horror films that have a hint of "it could happen". This includes The Exorcist, The Omen, The Conjuring, etc. If you enjoy these movies as well...I highly suggest you pick up the book/audio book Demonologist: The Extraordinary Career of Ed & Lorraine Warren.

Now if you enjoy movies such as Saw, Rob Zombie Films, etc...then that's coo...I do too. Yet what's more fraudulent than a movie base on Nada, Zippo, nothing...?

Yeah I don't think it should matter if a movie is based on a "fraud", real event or completely made up as long as it's entertaining. Obviously any movie isn't going to be for everyone but I LOVED the first Conjuring, all the Insidious movies and enjoyed Conjuring 2 and so did a ton of other people since they all made pretty good money so he's doing something right and that alone means that he's probably not going to pull away from films like that.

Back on topic, I saw 31 last night and it really made me realize that I am not a fan of how Rob Zombie directs. He comes up with great ideas, makes some great characters but his shot choices and the way he films just doesn't do it for me. Not a bad movie overall, some really fun and interesting characters in it but not something I'd recommend. On the plus side, EG Daily (the voice of Tommy Pickles) plays a psychopath named Sex Head so that alone is worth the price of admission lol
