I think the point is that he was dropped and everyone had the ability to see that transaction. Everyone up to Hollywood was able to draft him, but chose not to. Even if Alex had redrafted him at #2, he is still using that first round pick to get that player so it’s not like the “demotion” is coming without cost. I think there have been a few cases where someone has drafted a guy in the majors draft to stash him since historically the majors draft has been ahead of the minors and later had to drop that player. I would only consider it a loophole if the transaction wasn’t visible to everyone

No harm no foul in my book as that was not Hollywoods team (I don’t think at least).

It’s sketchy if you drop a prospect and add him to your own MILB roster in the following draft. But zero wrong with it for the other teams if the player was indeed dropped. Wish I had taken my time and looked at the prospect list. 100% a steal at where woody picked.

This is technically only 100% foolproof to do if you have the number 1 minors pick. And that means you were in last place the year before and probably not much of a threat to just move a non-playing player from mlb to minors roster.

Sorry for the ruckus fellas, truly didn't consider that as something that could be thought of that way. I'll add it to the list of things to discuss later on so we can put clearer verbiage in the OP around it and save my expanded thoughts on the matter for now


No player trades while the draft is live, please. Gets too fuzzy with keepers having been locked and a gray area if someone should be able to trade for a number of players not equal to the number of players they're sending in return
