I've seen the percentage of likely PSA 10s on Update straight out of the pack put at 30-40%. So 70%-80% of that would be your likely 10 on a random raw Update.

And since the consensus is that PSA has gotten tougher on 10s in the last few months, reduce all those numbers even further

With as many that have been submitted and still a high gem rate. Along with other cards from the set gemming at a high rate. I do not believe they have mostly bee picked through. Cards were just produced really really well. Sure there will be a handful that have been picked and a lower gem going forward but still price raw to graded is out of balance.

We need to find the original Soto thread and see what people were saying!

Yes, check out my tracker thread. It's everywhere. This is not fictitious.

I have a few orders at PSA, so hopefully I buck the trend.

Going back through a few pages on your thread, I see a ton of mentions about Panini basketball products and see quite a bit of Optic mentioned. Panini's centering quality is about as good as Topps circa 1963, so there's no surprise that tons of those get 9's.

I'm not entirely against making 10's harder though. I like the thought that 10's should be difficult to get.

The tough part about knowing if it's actually getting harder is you can't go by pop reports because more untrained eyes than ever are submitting but even with the stories on here there's going to be heavy selection bias. Most people who had their gem rates plummet will report it and a lower percentage of people who had their gem rates as normal would report that. I don't know what the normal trend of people saying they got slammed on submissions is but it seems to be very often now in the grading section

MAIL DAY!

I’ve been looking for a Pink Rookie Debut to match my Pink #HMT55. This looks even more amazing in person! The pink on the 2018 Topps Chrome is so classic!

You're being a little naive but hey, have at it. There's no shortage of BIN raw HMT55s for $100 on EBay. Go get em!

Only 3 are at or under $100. Sure feels like a shortage to me. Then steps to 125 and up. In person id go 150+. But shoddy pictures makes things tougher. Along with shipping/grading/other fees will chop into roi in a hurry.

I recently got back a PSA order and my 2010 Chrome Update Soto came back a 9. I have two other 10's. There was absolutely no difference between that 9 and the two 10's. If anything, I actually thought (imo) that the PSA 9 looked better than one of the 10's. It seems to me that PSA seems to be trying to either keep the pop low on the 10's or I just got a grader from hell.

Just to clarify, the platinum 1/1 is the card with the pushed back corner story.

For anyone collecting Soto beyond his rookie-year cards, I highly recommend this ‘19 Archives auto. I just received it, and it looks fantastic in person.

This is maybe a silly question, but here goes: would y’all rather own some of the 35th Anniversary insert RCs, or some Optic Holo RCs? I think they’re equally attractive cards, but I’m wondering if the “new money” flowing in is going to make pajamas more valuable down the road. A battle of the second-tier, it seems.

Honestly both...

I know some here scoff at anything unlicensed, but I just grabbed a Red Optic Holo/Prizm /99. It looks amazing...I’ll take a pic soon.

The anniversary autos are great cards. Soto has very few on-card autos, and they’re one of those few options.

As for non-autos, the anniversary cards aren’t that exciting. Maybe the parallels numbered to 50 or less are worthwhile, but I wouldn’t bend over backward for them. Not sure how those compare to Panini stuff. But the anniversary autos are definitely worth grabbing.

That’s helpful. I’ve had my eye on some anny autos, but they’re kinda expensive for my blood. The non-autos are still nice imo, just from a PC standpoint. Love the old-school look.

I was pretty ardently against non-liscenced stuff for a while, but lately the Rated Rookie Holos have really been growing on me. Not just Soto, but Tatís and Robert look great too. I might buy a few.
