I would love to see CGC announce two things. Their scaling up plans to get tour around times back to around a month. I think hiring or announcing vintage grader upgrades/new hire. Give all the SGC people an on ramp to CGC.

What I’m not happy about with CGC and would like to see changed…the inconsistency in handling of submissions.
I was on the phone recently with CGC about my Bulk sub delivered back in August with no updates and not logged in as of 10/7. Her responsible was predictably that the due date for bulk wouldn’t be until sometime in late Nov or December and that is true. But I’m more wondering why there isnt a change at all in the status and not even logged in, and we see in this thread alone there are bulk subs delivered after that have already changed to SFG or GEI. The rep goes on to say the cards are logged in on their side (…but aren’t on my side? The submission number is not hyperlinked, would be a 2-bit thing for them to do). I inquired why it’s not FIFO in terms of receiving the packages in the same sub tier, and the response was oddly that it *is*. Which is hard to make sense of since ones delivered after mine have updated statuses, and the response I got was: mine is actually scheduled for grading (but it’s not marked that on my submission tracking page). So I guess CGC is telling me subs that have since changed status to scheduled for grading are still after mine (which has no change and just says Received.) Which makes no sense. Only explanation is CGC is randomly updating some statuses and not others, regardless of how far along the sub actually is. So we get back to that consistency issue. But here’s the problem…I had two subs delivered to CGC back in august about the same day. One was Economy and one was bulk. My economy was done literally the 2nd day, and then shipped within the same week, and I had it back in a week. The other is the bulk mentioned above that if it goes to the stated 80 business day TAT, I’d be getting back around December (!) That is too massive of a difference for a $3 diff per card. A couple days vs 4 months, if indeed it goes the distance. Now I do think CGC fast tracked my Economy order for some reason, 2 days is unusual, but then it goes back to…why is CGC inconsistent with almost everything related to submissions? Instead of hyper- fast tracking Economy subs, maybe reduce the TAT of bulk instead? I really gotta stop using bulk over economy even if it saves me an extra $250, these differences in TAT shouldn’t be that large. Edit: I’m looking at DaCubs’s timeline above. Another example of inconsistency. The Economy order arrived to CGC first, yet went into GEI (10/3) after the Bulk submission went into GEI (9/25), which should be a much longer TAT. Also my economy shipment arrived at CGC after his back in august and was done in 2 days, whereas his economy just went to GEI 10/3. Is CGC randomly just picking packages to do here and there, no rhyme or reason to any of it.

Totally agree....
My economy arrived and was logged in before the changed in TAT to 40 days. It was 30 days. I had called and fine, they said it would be 40 days, ok... Whatever. Well today is the 40 day mark. Let's set what happens |

Agree with what was stated above. My bulk order that was marked arrived on 8/15 has no status update besides arrived. While other's bulk orders who arrived in September are already in the schedule for grading status. At what point do I call and ask? Is it even worth it?
I thought I was going to really move the bulk of my grading from PSA to CGC, but now thinking the best option is submitting to PSA through Gamestop. 6 week turnaround and max value out of 10's.

Noticed on CGC's Careers page (https://www.cgcgrading.com/en-US/careers) they have openings for graders in Tigard, OR (Oregon)? Wonder what's happening out there?

Interesting. Maybe opening a west coast office. Oregon to avoid California pricing. They could use the expansion. 500K cards graded last month and backed way up.

just text this any question you have 1-855-472-3310 I'd presume asking about grading times etc may just be met with generic responses but who knows. They are growing greatly now, which is what we want, or what those of us who have been grading with them from teh beginning want so its not only a PSA or bust type hobby. With that we need to be a bit patient as they bring on more employees etc to keep up with demand. (just my thoughts) Hopefully all that is being worked on since their "boom" has really just started looking at recent gemrate numbers. |

Maybe CGC could be behind with the larger volume lately etc, but that does not explain why they are doing them out of order. A rep tried to claim another sub saying “scheduled for grading” might *not* be further ahead in the process than one just saying Received…but I’m not buying it. Calling probably isn’t worth it. The reps seem very “front end” and not connected to the actual logistics at the facility level (like actually checking on packages). I called on this same issue…she basically just said it’s well before the estimated due date and thats that. Its disappointing the sub isn’t even logged in/hyperlinked, much less scheduled for grading, well over a month out. I don’t care about the sub taking a long time…thats expected bulk and well within the frames. But when I see all these bulks that were delivered after mine change statuses and mine not, it results in me questioning if something is wrong with the sub, something happened to it etc. Shouldn’t have to do that. I’m like you- I really want to use CGC more, love the slabs, but without fail, there is almost always SOMETHING going on every sub that results in me calling them etc. It’s just never a smooth process for whatever reason.

I don’t think this can be done, but I have a few in-person hockey card autos that I’d like to get CGC x JSA certified.
From what I understand, it’s not possible to submit those under the current 10/10 promo while paying the JSA upcharge — but I just wanted to confirm as I have yet to do a submission with JSA. |
