That would make sense. I made the mistake of just looking at 2018 autos. So weird that they used current auto stickers for all of the other Gallery colors and then dug into the two year-old stash for the 1/1. Topps is gonna Topps.

ETA: Re-thinking the whole thing, it's even better that you got a 2016 signature on the card. I think that adds an extra dimension of coolness to it.

Thank you Reggie. I was able to get a decent deal off eBay for it compared to the non True Gem Ref Autos, so I’m pretty happy.

I saw this card's image take some flak a while back in this thread (AFTER I had already purchased these) and I thought I would share some little-known facts about it while we all have the day off from watching our hero.

The image in the 2018 Bowman's Best "1998 Best Performers" depicts Soto moments before he was transformed into the OBP god and future HOF left fielder we all know and love (molded in the metaphoric image of Ted Williams and cut from pure iron)... In fact, the pic shows him right before he ever took the field and launched that rocket on the very first MLB pitch he encountered...

As shown in the card, he had just suited up before his first MLB game on May 20, 2018. He had to use the restroom, but being unfamiliar with the Nat's clubhouse, he got a bit lost and found himself walking down a long corridor.

Then all of a sudden, what did he see but a big-ass baseball rolling after him (see cards above for photo evidence)!!! Young Soto ran and ran and ran as fast as he could, but the giant ball caught up to him eventually (after nearly 20 (no 30!) minutes of him running away at full freaking speed) and violently knocked him over before he could get out of the way...

Unexpectedly though, as it rolled over him, something magical happened. The giant ball dispersed knowledge upon young Soto, making him a count-working wizard as well as granting him his childhood wish of hitting a rocket vs his very first MLB pitch.

On top of all that, the giant rolling ball granted him extra wishes and like any wise man, Soto used those extra wishes to wish for even more wishes. And to this very day, we are seeing the results of just a small fraction of the millions of wishes our OBP god has stored in his wish reserves (please note that I hear from a very reliable source that he used one of his stored wishes this morning on his elbow and will definitely be back tomorrow).

So, before any of you disparage this card further, I would at least like for you to just acknowledge the facts.
