Finding this kinda ironic/funny seeing on twitter/reddit/tik tok etc the amount of people complaining about the potential of paying $30 a month for the ESPN app and how greedy WWE is. People have become so accustomed to the lower price point since the WWE Network first came out it's like they all forgot that PPVs before the network were like $50-$60 (I think Wrestlemania may have been more than that).

Is WWE 'greedy'? Sure. They're running a business, of course they want to make as much money as they can. It'll be very simple to not pay the additional $30 a month basically if you have a cable subscription/live streaming subscription already.

I said it before in this thread but I vividly remember going to friends houses in the 2000s because we would all chip in to pay for Wrestlemania with our bday money/allowance and it was $50.

Also, I found this site that has the numbers:

https://wrestlenomics.com/resources/...f-ppv-buyrate/

My problem is that it’s an expensive monthly expense.

Back then in the 90’s, ppv’s were four times a year. In your house kinda sucked so it was not something I needed to watch to follow along.

I certainly didn’t pay monthly in the 2000’s for the ppv’s. I barely watched because I was a broke 20 something year old. I remember reading updates online during and after the matches. If I did order, it was going to be Rumble or Mania.

Then the network saved us all. That’s the business model we all wanted. Direct To Consumer. The Disney deal diluted the wrestling fans in hopes of attracting new ones. Good for the WWE but terrible for us fans.

Now, I can’t afford to go in person OR watch on tv. Sports have become a luxury. This has gone too far.

No disrespect meant, but you can't afford $30 a month? $10 was the breaking point?

I find an extra $10 added to the cost of a streaming service to be a breaking point. Its also about what you really get, and maybe if they get Red Zone confirmed, it might be reasonable.

All this does it brings it back to that PPV model. Looks like during the Jan-Feb-March months, you are paying $90 for three ppv's.

No offense taken.

Look, I have many hobbies. Card collecting, fishing, music, etc etc etc. Then there’s my son and his hobbies. It’s not that I can’t afford the PLE’s, but that I’d rather spend that time and money elsewhere. Wrestling can be had on YouTube shortly after it happens. I’m okay with that. Call it a protest with my wallet.

Same as me not buying hobby boxes at these ridiculous prices. Let someone else enable the price gouging, but I sure won’t.

Lastly, I’m finishing a bachelors program. I’ve used my college credentials to receive Peacock at $2.99 this whole time. I was okay with that. I don’t watch peacock at all.

So you see, I’ve always been frugal with my wrestling expenditures. I have always had a limit to corporate abuse.

Plus commercials! Give me a break. People ought to stop tuning in.

I think of it in terms of percentages. Sure $30 isn’t a lot but would you be happy with that percentage increase for your mortgage or that percentage decrease in your salary. It just seems disproportionately high in that regard.

Fair enough.

I mean yea, I'm only not unhappy because I already have FuboTV (and I only had peacock for the Traitors and WWE, I can live without the Traitors) so I'll save $10 a month for now, but it goes back to my point that PPVs were $50-$60 before the WWE network, we've just become accustomed to the cheap prices, it's still 50% less than buying a single PPV.

Those who watch AEW pay more than $30 for that product's PPVs I believe.

I don't want to disregard anyone's complaints about the pricing and such BUT..... there IS a way to watch everything for free and it's not that difficult to find.

I think for many paying that amount back in the past was also because it was the only means of watching what happened during the PPV. Now there are so many options to simply see the PPV's for free. Like why would someone even think of paying $30 to watch last weekends Summerslam when WWE also that weekend would post the bulk of the matches on their Youtube for free??

That’s fair. I definitely remember those days paying for the ppv events. I think like someone else mentioned that the lower frequency made it seem more justifiable and honestly they seemed to mean more. Hopefully the other streaming services are able to come to terms and make a deal too.

Cena vs Paul at Clash.

Guess they've saving Lesnar for Crown Jewel. Not surprising.

The I am serious I am Ron Killing put some respect on my name seems to have not lasted long and it's back to the comedy hour with R-Truth again.

That whole hijacking the show for R=Truth thing sure ended quickly. Internet being the internet. He's back to being rather irrelevant and nobody is batting an eye.

Well the reports that Kross and Scarlett signed new deals are false? WWE has moved both to the alumni section. Will be interesting if it's a work and they have them releasing video's on their personal social media to hype up they are FA's just to at some point Kross returns at a PLE and attacks someone.

Hold your horses everybody...I can't believe it...they released a WWE Legend...after being with the company 6 years, they have sadly parted ways with...

Ashante the Adonis...for the 2nd time...for those saying who?

I'm with you and will wait for an explanation lol

I don't think it's a work. I think he hit the point of no return, which is that he's a 40-year old midcarder. If you're not upper midcard at 40, WWE doesn't really need you as they have dozens of wrestlers who could easily take your spot.

Yeah the Doomsday Cult Leader thing hasn't worked ever long term

Kevin Sullivan's Dungeon Of Doom group
Bray Wyatt
Uncle Howdy

Bray was good at first then they went with The Fiend Character and killed the momentum.

Uncle Howdy is an after thought to the rest of the Wyatt Sicks and as soon as the move the belts off of them the group will slowly disappear and one by one get released.

Well it turns out WWE has a September PLE coming after all, according to Fightful.

It will air on 9/20, the same day as All Out. It's yet to be named, but will take place in Indy.

Bronson Reed now wearing 2 pairs of Roman's shoes around him. I don't understand. Why does he want Roman's shoes? What is it suppose to suggest? How does it bring him heat?

If only BB has said 87. Some old fashioned Steiner math. Wasted opportunity.

Sami is winning the Rumble to win the title against Rollins, right? That seems like the story they're going for. I don't dislike the story, but I'm interested how they plan to get him even as close to as hot as he was when he faced Roman for the title after leaving the Bloodline.

I just read that CBS/Paramount got the rights to UFC starting 2026. I thought ESPN+ was going to include UFC. What a loss this will be. I expected them to merge both sports on one platform.

Looks like that's it for Karrion and Scarlett. WWE has had a lot of swerves lately but don'really see this being one. We shall see
