No way there could be any corruption when millions (billions) of dollars are involved! That's impossible!

Fewer games, fewer dollars. More games, more dollars. Finals tickets aren't cheap.

Teams with talent win a lot so that's how they must rig it

Actually finals tickets are the same price as regular season tickets (at least is the case for the Spurs, a team that's been to the finals the majority of the time the past decade)

Good thing Jordan played all those Game 7's so the NBA could have those extra few games.

Duh. Of course it's rigged. Tim Donaghy was the tip of the iceberg.
They wanted a game 7 for Fathers Day this year and got it. |

Jordan dominates the league, no one days rigged. LeBron puts up back to back Jordan-esque 40 point games and dominates like a leader, rigged.
Has anyone saying "rigged" ever reffed a basketball game, at any level? It's hard as fug and would be near impossible at the NBA level. There wasn't anything egregious (like the Lakers v Kings in the early 2000s) there was some small split second decisions. Every game is like that at every level. Bunch of friggen window lickers on this site. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930AZ using Tapatalk |

The owners have made their money as well. Does game 7 bring in money to the Warriors? Sure. You'll see a comparatively small profit from ticket sales (assume the average profit from ticket sales at Oracle are $100, which they're not, that's $2 million). Let's say merchandise and concessions double that number to $4 million. The actual profit number is A LOT smaller than that but let's not worry about that. So the Warriors stand to make an extra 4 million? Or if you believe some reports $13 million? YA RIGHT!!! Your most profitable team recently has been the Chicago Bulls, making an average of $55 million during the course of AN ENTIRE SEASON, PLAYOFFS INCLUDED. So let's go the conspiracy route and say the owners stand to make an extra few million off of the series going more games. You're talking about billionaires, who pay more money to the league in LUXURY TAX (just so that they can field a team to contend for a title) than they would ever make from a prolonged series. You think these billionaires, whose sole goal is to have a title in their trophy case, would worry about making and extra $5 million to extend a finals series? Honestly anyone who believes this needs to take a long hard look in the mirror. Obviously I could go on and on about how this but what's the real point? The people that believe the NBA is rigged will never stop believing, even when presented with complete evidence to the contrary. Last edited by GeechQuest; 06-17-2016 at 10:12 AM. |

If Green didn't have a similar incident reviewed already in these playoffs I could agree with you. However two, what appears to be blatant, shots to opposing players testicles is fully deserving of a suspension.

These threads make me laugh and laugh (at least parts of it)
I worked for a Professional sports team as the Controller. I had daily reports after every game to see exactly what the bottom line was. I literally put together all the numbers for 82 games plus the playoffs. Multiple times a week. I've seen it from Game 1 all the way through the last game of a Finals series. The numbers people throw around are simply crazy town. CRAZY TOWN. You'll make some good per cap on alcohol. That's about it. There isn't a league or team on the planet that makes enough $$ having one extra game to rig something... now are the networks happy? ratings good? Sure... that's good publicity and I guess you can use that to get another TV deal in a decade? It's all about looking good. There is absolutely no material money difference in having a 7 game series.

Does the league want Game 7? Of course they do. Is it straight up rigged? No. The Warriors simply collapsed. Unless you want to say they intentionally threw the last 2 games then i just don't see it. I guess Silver walked into the locker room and said, "OK guys, here's the script for tonight. Steph, you are going to play awful defense, Harrison, go ahead and make sure you miss all the shots, Iggy, you are going to have back spams. Whatever you guys do, don't win. Lebron and Kyrie, you guys go ahead and make every tough shot and play awesome D. The Warriors are in on this and they aren't REALLY going to play tonight. Cool?" There really werent any egregiously terrible game altering calls. |

There is some manipulation but mostly to appease fans so, if it is rigged, it's all of our fault.
