Trout isn’t even the next Trout. He looks awful this year. He got paid, now here comes the slow decline.

That's what concerns me for Acuna.
What's to keep him from getting fat and lazy? Or is he driven to be great, not just financially secure? |

We won't see another Mike Trout for quite awhile. The last player on his level was Griffey Jr. and before Griffey it was Mantle and Mays. And preceding them Williams and DiMaggio. Thats 7 guys in 80 years, and 2 of them were playing at the same time as another 2.
Plenty of great players and Hall of Famers have come around and are playing great baseball right now but Trouty is on the highest level. He literally could suffer a career ending injury and retire next year and he would go to the Hall. I personally don't think he has entered the conversation with those 7 just yet because he hasn't had that jaw dropping season just yet, Griffey didn't have his first insane season until he was 28. Trout is 27 now, until he has his signature season like Mays 55', Mantle 56', Griffey 97', he is still in the same boat as Frank Robinson in my book. I hope someone comes along soon, Harper was a relative disappointment because it would have been fun to keep the argument going. I like all the players on this list but I don't see any of them entering this stratosphere. |

Somebody has to be the next top draw in cards.
Can't and won't be Trout forever. He's just a man. |

If they've already been I the league for four years, and you can't call them the next Trout, well then it isn't going to happen.

His OPS+ is higher this year than his career number.

from a hobby perspective it is clearly at least at this moment ronald acuna. interest in his cards are on another level above everyone else. yelich and belli are the flipping flavors of the month but acuna has organic growth with his high end cards getting locked away in the vault. as an example good luck finding a batting ssp on the open market right now.
do i think he has the potential to be best in the game year after year like trout? maybe... only problem is trout is still around and just getting to his prime!

NFL was visually non-existent. NBA-body cared. NHL-even less people cared. Soccer-even less people care than today. No wresting, no UFC. Boxing and Horse Racing were on the radar. People didn't binge watch season series of TV shows. They didn't spend all day updating Twitter and Instagram. Things are slightly different now. Nobody will ever carry sway like Mickey did. |

Lol “on pace” Bellinger is “on pace” to hit 72 homeruns, and have 192 RBI’s with a .430 average. I’m also “on pace” to eat 12 times today, poop 9 times and drive 500 miles.

Didn't it take Mike Trout 3-4 years to become the collecting phenomenon he is??? I mean even in 2015-2016 his cards were dirt cheap compared to today

i can see acuna taking over the hobby top spot in the next 3-4 years. if lindor ends up a yankee he can possibly be a top guy too.

Really? Look at all the horror stories from 2015/2016 when people were selling Trout at “peak value,” which is less than Yelich is currently going for.

If we're talking from a card standpoint, it probably would take 3-4 years. But if we're talking playing baseball, it'd probably be obvious within a couple years.... usually.
