Does anyone else also think that the pitchers each participant chooses plays a pretty big role in this competition?
I'm not entirely sure who each player chose as their pitcher this time (I just know Pete Alonso chose his cousin & Joc Pederson chose his 3rd base coach), but have seen some cases where the batter gets a lot of bad pitches and couldn't seem to be able to hit as much home runs as he should have.

I was thinking about the pitchers recently as well. Wonder if they had some kind of money payout on the line as well if things would change and how that would effect them?

Id assume the players offer their pitchers a cut similar to a caddy in golf- maybe 10%? Significant cash for those guys.

i like the HR derby with the clock, just not a fan of the bracket stuff. Wish it was just 10-12 players in total, heavy hitters like Judge, Stanton, etc in it, and then top two go to the final, that's it.

even could do something funny like last two fight it out, last place has to pay money lol

Threw a measly $25 on Acuna at +900. I've spent $25 on worse. Here's to an exciting HRD!

Vladdy is built for soft toss.. can’t hit a big league breaking ball, but he will destroy the derby

I think Alonso wins it. Dude just smashes everything it seems like...could be because I've only seen him when he plays the Braves though who he has pretty much destroyed.

Here’s my picks

Vlad over Chapman
Bregman over Pederson
Alonso over Santana
Bell over Acuna

(Really do think Chapman with no hype could make a run but the smart pick is Vlad)

Bregman over Vlad
Alonso over Bell

Alonso over Bregman

I've lost interested in the derby over the past few years, but this group should be super fun to watch. I'll be tuning in hoping to see an Alonso/Vladdy final round

Surprised to see Acuna has the highest homerun distance average among the contestants. I know he usually hits them far, but still surprised.

I like the fact that they have an umpire signaling when to throw the next pitch so there's no cheating like last year.

They had that last year too, that was the problem they were throwing before the Umpire signaled and then they cropped the screen so you could no longer see that.

I think there was one last year but you couldn't see him on camera.
