I thought this would be easy to answer, but wow it made me think. Initially I was thinking it would have to be the Candlestick Park seat signed by Craig, Rice, and Clark. Then I thought, no it would have to be the helmet signed by 11 49ers Hall of Famers (https://www.blowoutforums.com/showthread.php?t=1190308 to see pictures.) I'm sure it would be one of those, but the Clark/Montana Catch inscribed helmet is in the mix now too. There are just so many pieces I really enjoy having that it would be super hard to pick.

If I could pick one piece of memorabilia and one card I think I would go with the PSA 9 rookie for the card. Not as uncommon as some others, but probably my favorite card to date.

Just curious, why do you have a Carlos Hyde autographed jersey in that room? Get that out of there. LOL

Haha I think that every time I move stuff around. I won it in a case break when he was on the team along with the mini helmet next to it.

Just a couple small updates for today.

Only card is a 2000 Donruss Gridiron Kings Studio Kings autograph. Card is serial numbered out of 250, however only the first 50 were autographed.

Next I've been looking for a way to display the numerous magazines and newspapers I have. I wasn't having much luck until I walked through a hobby store the other day and saw some raw crates cut in half. I firgured for $7 ea they were worth a try and I am super happy with how they turned out. Bought some stain and after 3 coats and a spray of clear coat they are up.

That's it for now. Thanks for checking it out and please let me know what you think of the shelves! Have a great day!

Just a quick pickup update. Nothing major but one I was super happy to get. When I saw the release sheet for 2019 Donruss and saw the Jerry Rice/Joe Montana Team Supreme I thought hey not bad for a cheap insert I'll have to get it. Well turns out it is a SSP case hit and wasn't cheap at all but I was finally able to grab one. This looks great in hand and now I need to figure out where to put it as it's too nice to sit in a box. Also picked up a patch auto from 2009 National Treasures /10. Had a bunch of other smaller pickups to fill out some gaps in the collection. Up to almost 2700 unique cards with almost all being in the 49ers uniform and the rest in college.

As always thanks for taking the time to check this thread out and I hope you have a great weekend!

A non card (maybe cardish?) update today! Was finally able to track down the last Starting Lineup figure I needed for a now complete Jerry Rice SLU collection.

First the big one and the one that was by far the hardest to get (I've heard a print run of anywhere from 50 to 500) that were given out at the 1998 SLU convention.

1998 Convention Special white shorts variation

And here is the rest of them. I was able to get all but the Classic Doubles on the shelf together.

As always I hope you are having a great week and thank you for checking out the thread!

edit: it was pointed out on an SLU forum that I had forgotten to include the 89 helmet variant so here is a pic of it out with the others

Been staying away from stuff that wasn't released during his playing days with the Niners, but I saw this on the checklist for this years Spectra and had to get one.

Oh and then I saw this popup so I grabbed it too.
First auto 1/1!

Probably the biggest addition to my collection. A game worn 1996 Jerry Rice jersey used versus the Washington Redskins in a week 13 matchup on November 24.

I took some time before posting it as I wanted to verify the authenticity first. I wasn't able to get photo match proof as I learned Jerry wore 3 different jerseys during the game with the first 2 being provided by the company (Schaefer Sports) who had the contract at the time and the third (this one) being sewn in house by the 49ers seamstress. Unfortunately with the game having happened 23 years ago there isn't much in the way of high quality video or photos. I checked Getty and found some photos from the game however they appear to all come from around the start of the game and are of one of the Schaefer Sports jerseys.

The previous owner of the jersey, who was given it by a 49ers employee on the sideline after the game, spoke with Jerry Rice and told the story of how he obtained it. Jerry confirmed that it was authentic and then signed and inscribed it "GU vs Redskins 1996" indicating as such.

I believe I was able to find one photo of Jerry wearing the jersey on the back of a 1997 card (I'll try to find it again and attach a photo later.) The distances of the number patches from the seams and each other appears to be spot on. One thing that had me concerned was the difference in the size of the numbers vs. most photos of the jerseys from that season. After a lot of digging and comparing I was able to confirm that the numbers sewn on in house were a different size than the ones provided by Schaefer Sports. I was also able to find a picture of the different number sizes on one card however it was from different games than this one. The jersey also has all of Jerry's special alterations done by the seamstress in. Jerry always had his sleeves tailored to fit. If anybody else has any information I would greatly appreciate it and thank you for checking this out.

Here is the photo I was able to find. It's from 1997 Pinnacle Zenith. The spacing for numbers on the shoulders and the seam, the Reebok logo to the seam, and the placement of the 50th anniversary patch are all spot on. The 50th anniversary patch varied greatly in it's placement and this is exactly where it should be from what I can tell.

I should also note that I received one of the turtleneck shirts worn by Jerry during the season however it was only game ready and not one he wore during the game. It was marked in two places with his number and has the proper markings on it.

The NFL keeps great records of all of their games. You could probably contact someone and get images or an entire video of the game.

All of my attempts to contact anybody with the NFL archives were sadly never returned. I have spent many hours researching the jersey and am almost 100% confident with it. I will continue however to try and reach the NFL for video or photos as it would be really nice to have it photo matched.

Hello all! Sorry to bump this thread, but I came across it after someone on reddit suggested I Google "Jerry Rice super collectors."

I just got back into collecting cards and have been amassing a decent amount of Rice/Young/Montana stuff. I've been trying pretty hard lately to land a PSA 9 of Rice's 86 Topps rookie, but eBay sellers aren't budging from their above market asks, and there isn't much inventory out there. I want it for myself and definitely don't want to sell/flip it. It and the Montana 81 Topps rookie were the holy grails when I was growing up. I haven't had any problems getting multiple Montanas at good prices.

Are any of you aware of any stores or online retailers that may have a good selection of Rice stuff that may not be well known? In general, how do some of you go about finding something you really want that isn't too abundant out there? I live in southern California. Thanks in advance for the help!

I'm not sure there is a secret stash of Rice cards anywhere, especially for the low #'d/blue chip cards. Rice is the GOAT or WRs and is collected like it (and often paid for like it).

I got my PSA 9 RC before prices went nuclear, thank god.

Are you collecting _everything_ or do you have some focus to what you are hunting?

Rice collectors are the worst, especially when they have a card I need for a set.

No real focus, but the rookie PSA 9 has always been a target. I'm just getting whatever I can when I see a decent deal and trying to pick up some of the cards I remember having or wanting as a kid. Also, if I get a Montana or Young that I like, I usually try to get all three players. Like, I just picked up PSA 10s of 1989 score of all three. Been looking at some of the rarer refractors of the late 90s, too.

I've been getting a bunch of PSA 10s of numbered prizms, downtowns, working on kabooms, etc. I've landed some great stuff from flawless, too. My whole thing is getting value and not overpaying relative to the market. I haven't been able to do that with the rookie. Montana's was easy.

I paid $416 dollars for my '86 Rice PSA 9. My, how times have changed.

I paid $1900 for mine two Nationals ago, glad I grew a sac and spent the money before they landed where they are now...
