I think I will stalk all the Walmarts and Target when the product comes out! lol
Yep, for 2019-20, 100% of my Prizm orders are retail... I'm not touching Hobby Prizm at ~$400/box.

I'm hoping some opportunities for Optic retail pop up that allows us to buy-in at SRP, similar to Prizm.

Honestly, I wouldn't be shocked if its >$200. No way I'll be lucky enough to snag FOTL, so it's retail or bust for me. Even if they limit orders again, I'm hoping this pops on a Walmart pre-sale.

Great observation, I'm super curious of what the Lebron photo will be. That could make or break it.

I like this year's design. It's not 2018-19 good, but still good. And it looks like they've finally put some inserts into the product that might be fun to chase instead of the goofy Retro themed inserts they've been using.

Rookies is where Optic fails hard. Compare the Prizm Zion photo to this one. Over in one of the Optic hype threads, I posed the question as to whether or not people would prefer to see Optic move away from Rated Rookies and use in game photos or at least action shots, but it went ignored because they're too busy hyping their stashes. I think Prizm is hot garbage for the most part and much prefer Optic, but the Prizm rookies for Zion/Luka/Trae/anyone blow away their Optic counterparts.

This is my biggest gripe with Optic. If it is truly this generation's chrome, it should have in game photos of the rookies. What is even the point of it if it's just another studio shot of the rookies in a shiny form...a la Prizm? The whole LeBron 2018-19 Optic hype is because he's in a Lakers uni for the first time in a chrome type card. If the rookies were featured with in game photography, this stuff would go even more nuts than it's already going.

I would rather see Optic be a spring release if it meant they could utilize some early season in-game photos for the rookies. And that would space it out from Prizm.

The Rainmakers insert is pretty slick looking. Don't love that they reused the Star Gazing name from Revolution.

It almost is now. They should be able to have some in game photos by the beginning of Feb. The way they are now don't bother me. It's not horrible. They would look better though with live action shots.

It's funny 17 Hobby was still as low as $85 during the offseason. Musta printed the heck out of it.

2017 still looks like an underwhelming draft class, with 3 of the top 4 picks looking like washouts or role players at best. Certainly no player with SUPERSTAR potential like Simmons / Luka / Zion. It also may have been overproduced, as this analysis showed that 2018 production was actually DOWN from 2017:

It's all drying up for hobby, every year of Optic. You can still find 17-18 cases and some loose boxes of 16-17. No cases of 16-17 left anywhere that i've found, and nothing left of 18-19 hobby at all except some FOTL boxes.

MJ Holding. If you’ve ever bought cards from Walmart, they usually ship from their Illinois distribution center.

He's an old guy who's happy to make the MSRP regular markup and keep his longterm customers like me happy, who were buying basketball when no one else in the world was buying that stuff.

Plus, think about it, you go to the shop in person and get a box of Prizm [whatever limited supply he may get this year] and you're gonna spend more money not just on the one box.

He knows stuff goes for more on the internet he just doesn't care.

Who’s your guy? You can even tell me after Prizm/Optic hits. I have no desire to open or buy any Prizm.. probably ever.. and will probably cap myself at one blaster of Optic. I’m not much of a gambler and would rather get singles, but I’d also like to support a local shop if they’re doing business super ethically to their loyal customers when they can otherwise make bank on certain products.

It was the first 2 years. Came out like late March early April. Still the same posed photos though. I liked it better that way though so I had time to save up again after burning all that cash on Prizm in early December.

Oops that first quote was accidental. On a positive note I think I just learned how to multi quote. Lol
