So i just got in from running some errands and wouldn't ya know SC Chrome has been added to the BO website but it is showing sold out....

Was it actually live?

Sooo i initially posted this into the Regular SC Thread but it needs to be here;

As of yesterday chrome was up on the site and when it first dropped was actually cheaper than regular SC (at current prices)

Got myself a case ($1699) and noticed the sticker price was changed shortly after ($1949)... both boxes and cases out of stock.

Anyone else snag any? Only 3 cases up in total i believe, then poof!

Dangit really? Not sure how I feel about $1699. $106 a box for 84 cards total and 1 auto is pretty high. Was originally rumored to be $70 a box. Hopefully wax price inflation comes back down now that we're getting back to regular product launches.

Compared to those 2008-2016 wax prices which i had grown quite accustomed to, yes i agree $106 a box is high as this would be an $80 box in years past.... but those years are gone.

In comparison, BO is currently asking $125 per box on regular SC

I suspect the price of SC Chrome will only rise, of course mostly hinges on production numbers so hoping they do not print the ever loving shite out of it

It appears there will be a retail component as well

Would be curious as to whether other sites are offering this and for what price, although BO does pretty much set the bar these days for good or bad

Meh, when will the Chrome Sapphire version be released??? Same old Topps ideas.

Too bad Stadium Club remains a second-tier Finest-like product with only a small chance of ever becoming more.

The 2000 chrome version of this product was a lot of fun though.

Compared to prices 3 months ago is more accurate. Everything is 25-50% higher than it was. Two products I was considering buying cases of were this and Bowman Sterling. My own fault for not locking in Sterling at $200 a box.

Looks like the value for retail could be really strong for this, assuming 24+ cards for $19.99, along some sort of retail exclusive variant.

I got two of the cases, pre-ordered in bulk as I usually do.

I think this product will be very, very popular. Shiny things tend to sell well.

I've noticed a pattern with certain Retreads getting lots of love from a value perspective on the first (re)release only to become quite diluted in subsequent years.

Its completely logical, as many are not sure about a certain product (orders are slow/down) until it blows up, then orders go thru the roof and suddenly the value is diminished.

I have a fairly strong gut feeling about this one although of course it could go either way.

I had the same feeling about 2014 High Tek and bought a case from my old LCS and remember two obnoxious gold chain wearing slobs saying it would suck, ended up being one of if not the best case i have ever opened ~ Tons of Fun and Insane Value

That’s a valid point for sure. If they were to keep production to reasonable levels and provide solid box value it will be a huge hit especially with a loaded RC class. I’m skeptical as SC chrome cards don’t seem very popular but with ravenous demand this year I seriously doubt it will flop or even go down.

Smart people watch smart people's retail breaks in that section and pluck singles.
Let's see where the box price($150?) will get you in singles at release. Im guessing at least 3 good boxes worth of hits.

I personally think Stadium Club has some of the nicest imaging for a baseball card.
Combine that with the Chrome finish.

This is a most valid observation. Topps is the hobby puppet master pulling all the strings. They naturally target different products to different audiences, just like they should. They’ll play around with the number and quantity of rookies, autos, colors, shininess, better players, worse players, pretty pictures, pretty designs to either increase or decrease (aka cook or discord) interest in a particular product.

This is something anyone managing a portfolio of products would do in order to maximize interest across the entire portfolio...not just one or two products.
