Nope, already committed to coming back.

Philly earned my respect when he nearly won the 2007 AFCCG on one leg while Tomlinson pouted on the bench.

I think Ben can still play. 100%. It’s not that. I think his desire has waned, and for his sake he should hang it up. He’s got nothing to prove. I’m a fan.

Truth. It’s the one moment I respect him for. It’s also why I don’t respect Tomlinson. That, and his post game temper tantrum after that 14-2 team lost to the Pats.

Wait a second, you're saying that getting rid of Watson will be the best move the Texans have made in years???? Getting rid of a top 5-10 in the prime of his career???? WOW, now thats a hot take!

Yuck. To think I actually cheered for him early on in his career. I rooted for him to win his first super bowl. Just retire already Tom and take Gronk, Belichick and Edelman with you.

Everybody is throwing out HOF. I am not so sure. Let's just compare him to Quarterbacks of his era and generation. He put up big stats in the new passing era with rules designed to protect the quarterback and the receivers. Never won the big one. Is he really a HOFer? Did you really get excited because Phillip Rivers was playing on the TV?
Compare him to Brees, Rodgers, Brady, Manning and even Favre who got to play some in this new era.
I would put him more in the Hall of Very Good.

The QBs of 20 years ago who were accumulators were Kerry Collins and Vinny Testaverde. I think Rivers is more than a stats accumulator and better than most of his generation than Collins/Testaverde were of theirs. He's in the HOF but with Brees retiring this year, Rivers gets to bide his time behind ol Drew yet again.

He's going to go in eventually in my opinion. I never got excited to watch him play, but that's not a requirement for the HOF.

To think the top three QBs taken in the NFL draft in 2004 are all going to be HOFers and Buffalo has two first round picks and ends up with Lee Evans and Just Pathetic Loss Man.

The more I thought about it, the more I have to go with a "No" on the HOF for Rivers. Saying he's #(X) in passing yards, or completions, or TD's is not relevant to me; like you said, he put up a bunch of those numbers in an era that was very friendly to a QB (though to be fair, the crazy pass-happy NFL didn't really start until 2014). Here's the real reason it's a no-go for me:

0 - Super Bowl appearances
1 - AFC Championship appearance
0 - All Pro nominations (1st or 2nd Team)
0 - MVP's (4 total votes combined - (2) in '08 and (2) in '09)
8 - Pro Bowls, but these have been devalued this past decade

I'm just not seeing it.

2005 Rodgers (I can Smith retiring as well, maybe?)
2006 none
2007 none
2008 Matt Ryan (Flacco around as a backup)
2009 Stafford
2010 none
2011 Cam Newton and Dalton - both look like backups now.
Old man Fitzpatrick as well.

The league is full of young QBs now. I think the way offenses are ran with RPOs and more running QBs, it will be a position of higher turnover going forward.
2012 currently has Tannehill and Wilson. Foles is a backup and RG3 just got waived.

I don't see it either but it's not because of the numbers. It's that when you watched him play you didn't see a HOF'er. You didn't see someone who could take over a game and toy with his opponents. But it doesn't matter. He's going in. Depending on the class it could even be first ballot. It's inevitable.

Yes, you go a bit further 2013 has nobody, 2014 is down to Bridgewater and Carr and 2015 is Mariotta and Winston.

I stopped at 2012 since it was a pretty good QB draft, would have been really good if not for Luck's injuries.

Not sure but my man Leroy Butler is a HOF finalist for the second year this year and he has:

2 - SB appearances
1 - SB ring
3 - NFC Championship appearances
4 - All-Pro 1st Teams (not sure how many 2nd Teams)
4 - Pro Bowls

and...is on the NFL's All-Decade Team of the 1990's

I can't imagine Troy Aikman ever getting an All Pro he was actually pretty blah his entire career. Minus winning all them super bowls.

I was using PFR, they don't show those guys as having a 1st-team All-Pro. I wasn't looking for 2nd team.

I went to individual stats where they have designations for 1st team, but it doesn't appear to match the all-pro lists. Not sure why, my bad.

Why wouldn't you be looking for 2nd team?

His question was because Rivers has never been on any
