Was thinking of selling something through them and was told they don't use reserves. I'd be pretty pissed to have had it sell for what these went this round.

They might not have “reserves” but it does look like some of their lots had minimum bids...two Luka Doncic 1/1 chronicles autographs had minimum bids of $25k and $30k and it looks like neither one attracted bids at that level.

I've got one auction with them ending for 40% of the best offer I got off Ebay before I pulled it. It is partially the player's poor performance and partially a market correction. If they used reserves, I would have set it for a bit higher than it is now. I'm not sure of you can negotiate the starting price with them to use as a de facto reserve.

Honestly anything low-mid to mid should literally not be run on this platform. Saw countless things tonight where you literally could have made more just selling on eBay yourself. The truly rare cards that actually matter continue to do quite well on goldin.

Unless these people spend $50k-$250k on a vacation I don't think it's effecting the prices of these super high end cards. But the average Joe buying a Zion base prizm, sure.

There's a pretty predictable pattern with some of these high end cards exploding then coming back down. A rare card that you don't see often surfaces and sells for insane money, which gets the attention of other owners who decide to cash out and the next auction draws out a couple more. Then those sell and the auction after that draws a few more again. Then after enough cycles eventually someone who bought one of the early copies may consign it again to try and get a quick profit. Now this card that used to be considered rare has suddenly sold like five times in a short time span and the buyers market gets fatigued as serious buyers get their copies and move on to the next persuit.

Thing is, there have just recently been two rather huge selling prices of this item, and they appear to have gotten significantly less than those other platforms.

I got my Kevin Durant 2007-08 Chronology True RC Auto back from PSA. Right now I looking for the best selling option and am in contact with Goldin.
Card is a PSA 9 Pop 1 with a 10 Auto.
Last copy sold raw just below 8k.
What’s everybody’s opinion? Is this the right card for Goldin? They told me they would be happy to offer it.
Should I wait a few more days/weeks until Durant gets back or wait till he’s Finals MVP?
Also what‘s everybody’s guess on the price since it’s a Pop 1?
Who sold through Goldin and could share their experience with me?

Thanks and Happy Easter

I think it's a good enough card for them. Lots of people really like big little D.

I personally dont think he is going to be finals MVP. But I dig the confidence. We shall see.

Cool card, and congrats, but this is the kind of stuff that SHOULDN’T be sent to Goldin.

Thank you, he will return next week. Definitely going to wait at least two weeks until I make the final decision.

Heck, even some of that stuff did okay....

A Mahomes NT Rooke Materials Sig Gold PSA 10 that went for $140k on ebay back in Jan sold for $180k after BP.

The other seemingly winners tonight were:
-2012 Prizm Golds
-2017 Mahomes Optic Gold ( Sold for $51k on ebay in Jan, $60k tonight with BP)
-Dwayne Johnson Miami PSA 10 Rookie for $79k
-LeBron 2019 Prizm Gold PSA 9 $54k
Yeah, I was thinking this too, which is why people should be buying low pop, rare cards. Cards like the #57 Jordan - even in a PSA 10 - is really not that rare, so to get a good price on it you need to time the market perfectly.

It's not just the 2012 golds that have commanded big prices. It's all Prizm years with 2012 leading the way, obviously. RARE is where it's at.

$645k (that's with the extra 3% Goldin will promote)

There were a good number of really strong sales too. Luka Flawless Vertical Gold PSA 10 got over $200k. Three times what a PSA 9 just went for on eBay. Pele Alfa SGC 7.5 got $145k.

Money is just cycling now. Modern baseball and soccer is hot and Goldin doesn't have much of either. Too much basketball at a time when the basketball market is a bit soft.

Goldin is killing the market right now by listing way too many high end cards.

If they listed just one of the 2012 Prizm Golds, the price may have gone for double.

They need to scale back big time and turn themselves back into the Goldin that only sold the highest end cards.

To your point, Tiger Woods Sp Rookie Autographs also set a new all time high yesterday at Goldin for the Gold Auto, Limited to 100 and the Green Auto PSA 10/10 Limited to 900.

The Curry ended slightly below $200k with the juice, not including taxes. It had a pretty jacked up auto, which is why it did not go higher. But yeah it was a crazy steal for the buyer!

The price wouldn’t have doubled if they listed one Gold. Moreover, even if it did double, Goldin would have collected less money.

They’d rather sell twenty $50,000 cards than one $500K card.

The Kobe Topps Chrome refractor BGS 10 sold for just $300K.

Also the KD Exquistie RPA /99 BGS 8.5 sold for $85K.

These prices are down so much compared to the last few Goldins' records. Is this the price correction everyone was expecting?

2) The Kobe chrome refractor BGS 10 has lost most of its brown and is green beyond recognition; and
3) The KD that sold last time was an rpa /25 not /99
@shakobe: yeah those are all good points. also, the OP just listed the final bid amount. that is not the sale price. you have to add the 23% juice (buyer premium) to get the realized sale prices (or 20% if the buyer pays quickly with check or wire).

I wouldn't send anything to Goldin that would sell for under $100,000. They should only be used for the extreme high end. Not a doubt in my mind that you'd net more consigning with PWCC.

what you really think people who spends that much on cards dont spend 100k's on vacation get out of here. Wait till sporting events open up and courtside seats sell for 10k a game or concerts and everything else. Party is over.

Is it though? I don’t recall hearing this 5 years ago. Or did it just take a pandemic and new buyers to push this card to where it is.

Market is getting worn out with the same cards selling every few weeks. Jordan PSA 10's, Kobe Refractor RC's, Curry NT RPA's.. these are huge cards that should only sell a couple of times a year but are selling multiple times per auction.. Can't fault Goldin for accepting consignments on these as they aren't going to turn down $.. but it's making these rare, grail type cards feel readably available. Same thing happened with LeBron Exquisite RPA's the fall/winter of 2019. There were like 5-6 that came up for sale all ending around 200k.. a few months went by without any selling and the next to sell broke $1M.

Goldin will promote your auction lot if you add 3%? Is it normal for other auction houses to charge the extra as well?
