Yep - this has been the case, and continues to be. The Optic Holo Autos are the nicest on-card Refractor/Prizm RC autos every year. Beats the pants off Prizm.

Not too into the Photons, the design just doesn't do much for me, so guess I will stick to chasing Black Velocities and Holo Autos like I usually do.

As for inserts/case hits and aesthetics/design, at least Panini has been doing a good job with Obsidian. Those always look good and I think they're doing a great job introducing new SSPs + case hits within that brand.

Like an idiot, I opened 3 boxes of Optic over the weekend. Going to take a hit, but oh well.

In the 3 boxes, I got 3 Mobley base RR's. What I have noticed after looking on Ebay is that the vast majority of these have horrible surface imperfections in the background. Only one of mine was remotely clean. Is anyone else seeing the same?

Got zero, Cade or Scottie B base cards or inserts.

Yea watched a bunch surfaces are jacked up. Seen a box today with a barnes gold cade red barnes was scratched really bad.

Retail is supposed to come out next week. There are retail boxes on presale for 100 bucks, free shipping if you buy 2.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm passing. I think these boxes (and eventually other retail) will be found in Walmart and Target without any issues.

I am not ordering either. I won't find any in the stores though.

I am located near a hobby shop that will send people to buy them all so they can price them at 2X.

Considering 20-21 retail boxes can be had for around that price, I agree.

I was wondering why everyone was ripping on Optic, I kind of like Optic (Contenders whoops).

The on card auto is iconic, I guess those make a $700 break worth it after all in the long run. Are they numbered?

Blasters are 35 on WalMart. Hobby is currently 500 and falling.

2020-21 is around the same with a better class. I can't believe I'm saying this but I might pass on them at MSRP (at least in WalMart).

The fact that you can buy Prizm blasters off eBay for around MSRP suggests that Optic blasters should also be easy to find. I'll be curious what happens with mega box pricing and availability.

Plus Prizm is almost certainly a better blaster rip with 3 ices, 1 purple wave, 1 silver, 1 green and a chance for a 75th. And the Optic inserts took a major step back this year IMO.

^ Prizm blasters seem to be going for about $50 on eBay (slightly cheaper in lots), which is enough of a markup to not be worth it for me.

I agree though, the Optic inserts are nothing to get excited about, and also fewer parallels than prizm for sure.

Can get them closer to $30 if you look. That seems a bit tempting to me. I also see the Optic 20-21 blasters going for less than the Donruss blasters. That doesn't make sense to me. I also like the 20-21 class a lot better than 21-22.

Seen a couple uploads on Youtube this weekend for the Optic blasters. Other then the blaster having 30 cards instead of 28, it looks exactly the same to last year with the Checkerboard being the "ultra rare hit"

Seems the same to me. I keep seeing photons and black velocities with horrible centering.

Grabbed 7 blasters this morning. Was just going to sit on them but I've had the hot hand lately, just pulled my fourth Downtown out of Optic FB last night. Decided to open one, and my Optic year was over on the 2nd pack.
