#2, Kyle Tucker-When the offseason started I intended for Tucker to top the list, but his prices started rising too fast. I've already sold most of my biggest cards to the point that I am well in the black, although some of that is holdover stuff. I thought he'd be a quick riser when people started to see him as a top 10 fantasy player. He's #5 in my secret sauce projections. Now he's just got to live up to it (ie avoid the early season 4 for 40). He was huge last offseason too. Why He's A Target: Secret Sauce Projection. 2023 Projection: 281/34/100/19. What I'm Hoping For: Just keep on keepin' on.

#1, Eloy Jimenez-Oh brother! Here we go again. I expected him to rise quite a bit in the offseason as the market "paced" his 2022 numbers, but that didn't happen. In fact, if anything he's down since late October. His poor 2021 and inability to stay healthy is still weighing him down. If you average his last two years, take his whole career, or just look at his projection they all tell the same story. There just isn't anybody close in price with that type of avg/hr projection. Plus with Jose Abreu gone, he can become the RBI hog in the middle of what should be a solid lineup. He just has to stay healthy. Hopefully being a full time DH will help with that. Why He's A Target: Secret Sauce Projection. 2023 Projection: .273/33/98. What I'm Hoping For: Health.

Honorable Mention
HM, Kevin Alcantara-He started out much closer to the top of the list, but at some point his market turned and I started selling cards like crazy. I'm only down $11 overall here, with plenty of inventory still to go. I got a long distance look at him during Spring Training and he's still raw, but that's OK given his age and size. Why He's A Target: My prospect list. 2023 Projection: Low minors. What I'm Hoping For: That I sell at least $20 worth of cards between now and the Futures Game. HM, Mark Vientos-Another huge projection from a prospect. In this case there is and never was a path to playing time. I don't really want a trade either because the loss of market would offset the extra PT. I didn't go bonkers here, but I do have a BCA Blue /150, plenty of other BCA, and smattering of other stuff. Why He's A Target: Both my prospect list and my Secret Sauce Projection. 2023 Projection: .238/32/87/0. What I'm Hoping For: Bash 30 or 40 HR between AAA and MLB. HM, Anthony Santander-Man, talk about a guy that's low volume. I got a high percentage of the stuff that came up for auction, but it just wasn't very much. My best card is a BCA Blue /150, but my favorite might be the 2018 Mother's Day /50. He's down the line in terms of star potential for the Orioles...but he's also been batting in the 3 and 4 hole. That could easily lead to a 100 RBI season if he's healthy. Why He's A Target: Secret Sauce Projection. 2023 Projection: .245/29/89/2. What I'm Hoping For: Another 30+ HR season with 100+ RBI. HM, Rayne Doncon-I don't really have enough inventory or spending for him to be on the list, but this is the only place he fits. I'll be continuing to add unless he gets off to a scorching hot start. When I looked back at my favorite AZL in person looks over the years, it's pretty much 50/50 whether they become a star or a bust. Doncon holds that distinction from 2022, so I'm going to bet on it. Why He's A Target: In person AZL look. 2023 Projection: Low minors. What I'm Hoping For: Breakout year that puts him in the top 100 overall prospects.

2022 Bowman Draft Targets
Christopher Paciolla, Sal Stewart, Cade Horton, Jett Williams-I'm still building stashes of these guys so not a finished list, by any means. Paciolla doesn't have any color autos, so it's all base BCA and non-auto #'d. Jett Williams base BCA and #'d BCA are way out of line with the normal multiplier. The #'d are about where I'd expect it to be with the base way low. His non-auto #'d is more in line with the base BCA, so I'm just ignoring all autos. Guys Who Shot Up In Price Too Fast Pete Alonso, Miguel Vargas, Endy Rodriguez-All three of these guys were on my Oct 24 list, but I was never able to build much of a stash (or any stash, in the case of Rodriguez) due to fast rising prices. Vargas was starting to touch my target sell price as early as mid December. It got to the point that I had to stop following Endy Rodriguez because there was so much volume.

Important Holdovers
Joey Gallo-I don't have a single guy who can break me this year, but if there is one player who can make my year it's Gallo. The problem is it looks like his usage is going to be similar to last year. He's been batting #7, and the first opportunity they pinch hit with offensive superstar Donovan Solano. Of course he's got 3 HR the last two days too. 2023 Projection: .188/29/76/4. What I'm Hoping For: Beat that projection by enough to land a multi-year deal. Yordan Alvarez-It will surprise some of you to know that I am still in the red on Yordan overall. That will be changing soon though, which is quite an accomplishment since this is where I spent a ton of money at the Spring 2021 market peak. I wanted to load up again this year but backed off due to his high price tag. I figured it was better to spread the money around. One Yordan BCA would cost just about as much as one each of the top 10...more if you remove Tucker. 2023 Projection: .284/37/106/2 What I'm Hoping For: Threaten the triple crown and be in the MVP hunt at the end. Rafael Devers-Similar story to Yordan. A guy I love, but couldn't mix it up too much due to the high price tag. If I had a bigger bankroll those two and Vlad Jr. would be near the top of the list. 2023 Projection: .278/32/100/4 What I'm Hoping For: Be in the MVP hunt at the end. Adalberto Mondesi-I'm using the word important very loosely here, but the trade to the Red Sox makes him relevant again. When I say relevant I mean people will notice he's injured. Anything I get from Mondesi will be a welcome bonus, since most of his stuff is in the profit box and I had written him off talent wise. The only thing I was waiting for was the change of address. It came sooner than expected. 2023 Projection: .234/17/69/35 What I'm Hoping For: Maybe 2-3 months of health? Box Cloggers Jo Adell and Joey Bart-At the peak of Joey Gallo's struggles, he wasn't even in my top 2 worst performing "Jo's". Bart there is still some hope given his 2nd half and that he's kind of a starter, although he's on the IL right now. Adell needs a new team. A lousy team. A team that will give him 600 PA and see if he can bop 30 HR and not embarrass himself too much in the other areas of the game. He's simply not going to get that in Anaheim.
