2023 Allen & Ginter Thread! - Page 2

Been a ginter set builder since 2009.

I like the coin. Don't really care for the goofy window cutout looking border.
I'll still buy a case or a 1/2 case because it's ginter and I can't help myself.

I agree that since 2018 the auto list seems to have diminished in quality. I'm from KC so Eric Stonestreet would be cool to get. HOping they'll add a few more big names before release. Last year Alice Cooper was cool to see in there.

This year might be my first chance ever to purchase a case of any product. If so, I’ll probably do the irresponsible thing and buy 5 cases worth of Ginter. I know it’s a terrible idea and I’ll lose close to 70% of value but it’ll be fun.

Wow, can't wait to see what you pull! I still feel like there are some massive autos that we're going to hear about. I think I'm in for two cases again but we'll see what the price point has to say about it

I did very well in my one 2022 A&G case. With the money I made from selling some singles, I was able to purchase an Alice Cooper auto /25, who is probably the best non-baseball signer in the entire product, so I am happy about that.

Not sure about 2023 though. Not really interested in IG-TikTok influencers and barbers.

Lol …. I tend to disagree …… 2018 Topps Allen Ginter x crypto …. It literally has funded my whole hobby and then some.

I think if you fix your statement and talk about Topps dynasty or these other garbage products.

just because the card has “Topps dynasty” on it the autograph is only worth as much as an autograph ever will . A David ortiz auto in Ginter is not worth more on a dynasty card…. And year after year Topps keeps making these players sign 10-15,000 autos these expensive products that get more expensive will never be worth anywhere near what they sell for

I feel like the bigger names always get leaked closer to release, or sometimes even show up as a surprise after people start opening.

I'm always good for a case of this, usually 2. Last year I got a Wander cloth and an Alice Cooper auto, then an Alice Cooper auto /25 in my Ginter X.

I agree with the general point you're making. But in all fairness with that example, Post Malone wasn't super known at the time and potential there was much higher than a podcast/online personality. Post was up-and-coming in 2017 with only his first album out where best song was a rap song that may not be of interest with the greater part of the A&G collector base. He blew up from there and entered into some different genres as well and that card went up from there.

Wasn't super well known? He released his third album that year and was nominated for 4 Grammys, including Album of the Year.
