I just don't like the influencer culture, it's turns me off to the collecting world especially people who have stupid nicknames for themselves. I don't go around shouting I'm AWZ50. ,so calling yourself the cardfather is lame.

That's what intrigues me. He's an old(er) man who was doing cards long before the internet or influencers or breakers, and yet he has embraced the evolution and welcomed those types into his world when he could have easily dug his heels in the ground. I've talked to him a few times and he just always seems happy, has a smile on his face, and appreciates everything about the hobby for better or worse. His passion is infectious. I can respect that from someone who could have easily said I'm done with this generation. He clearly doesn't need the money anymore. He just enjoys the hobby.

He's been around for so long and he'll be around long after. He's above the trends, so when he grabs hold of one (like the card influencer trend) it's not going to stick to him. He's free to run with trends as they happen. It's the perks of being the "Cardfather".

Rob is as solid as it gets. Used to go to his shop a lot in the 90’s. In my late teens and selling some vintage cards to him he was honest as it gets and dealt with me fairly. Every other card shop in LA tried to rip me off.

Don’t care for influencers either. But that’s what’s bringing in new people including kids. So doesn’t really matter what I think.

Also $20 is literally nothing. It’s the de facto minimum wage in LA(and likely higher in OC).

I like Rob. The Burbank show is literally nothing but an influencer circle jerk. Both things can be and are true.

Was that for graded cards only or all cards graded/raw? Can't seem to locate the info.

Never understood how these two idiots got famous. To like their stupid act you have to have a IQ lower then they do. Figuring they both have to be in the single digits that is amazing that they have so many followers.

Yeah Rob, his family are good people. They been around filling peoples sets and card needs forever. Rob would take you around the back and show you the racks and racks filled with cards and how their systems works 20 years ago. I hope they have a great show at $20 a day or $50 for a 3 day, that is cheap considering this is one of the biggest convention floors in California.

Also this is where the National show was held when it was in California, so their is history in bringing a big show back here. the place hosts Disney 23, Wondercons are held here so it is not cheap to put a quality show here. This convention floor would rival any crappy venue as Chicago, NJ, Cleveland, Baltimore the National has ever had.

I'm gonna be there.

Can I take my cards to tables and negotiate trades or sales at the table or is that only for trade nights? Also, do dealers pay cash, Zelle for your cards?

I'm guessing some Donruss nepotism helped.

Any tips? My hotel is a few miles away so I'll need to park somewhere. Cheap would be nice but really I'd like easy and quick access to my car as the top priority.
Get parking at the convention center or take uber/lyft

Rob like others have mentioned is a quality guy, he is always positive and is beyond fair when it comes to buying and selling. He loves the hobby and at the same time runs a business he has a physical and online shop that employs about 20 knowledgeable guys. His physical shop is clean, well organized and a breath of fresh air.
I am attending the show today to try and beat the weekend traffic and crowd. Hopefully I will be able to find some stuff for my collection at reasonable prices.
One of the things I always think is funny about collectors is that they want it both ways. They want it to be a hobby that is only for collectors who love the hobby with cards being worth big money. Big money cards come with hobby popularity and that usually comes from influencers promoting the hobby to big fish that will buy the big cards.

The early tiktoks posted by Blez are cringe. Even has a play-by-play person who follows him around. I have never wanted to punch someone so hard in the face.

Anyone know if PSA accepts pack submissions at these events? I have two cello packs I'd like to sub along with a handful of cards.

If anyone going to the show happens to run across any of this stuff, please contact me! If you see someone trying to move any of this and you could discretely snap a photo of the person/people that would be great. These guys have hit 4 shops in the LA area in the last few months.

Parking was $20.

Overall it was pretty good. So much modern graded stuff. Almost all vintage was graded as well.

Lots of bros. Lots of social media people. Only found a few good deals. People all pretty much had the same players in the showcases.
