T206. For years I've had a picture in my mind of selling or trading away almost every card I own and eventually whittling my collection down to a couple sets, player collections, and flip that into funds to chip away at T206, which doesn't seem like a bad way to cruise into retirement. Then the day I get my Ed Plank in the mail, I die, one card short. Then I find the Wagner waiting for me in my heaven swag bag. And it's an autographed and authenticated PSA 10, too. And I say,"Thanks, J, you a real one." Then he says,"Yo, I know you really wanted that one. But I'd trade you for 2 million Zion PSA 10 Prizms." And I say,"That's tempting, but this is for my PC."

Yeah I saw a guys t206 set without the big 4 and that was impressive as hell. I'd be giddy being able to run em all down

I have a similar dream. Except in mine, when I get up to the pearly gates, Honus is standing there with a cigarette in his mouth. He laughs and tells me- between drags- that he never actually had a problem with tobacco. He's just a card collector himself and recognized that if he made his own cards more scarce they would be worth a lot more.

Then Mickey Mantle walks over and hands him a beer, Honus gets distracted because he is now holding both a cigarette and a beer, and I wake up before I actually receive my own copy of the T206 Wagner.

I can see Reggie Jackson doing that. From what I heard, signing his 1997 Donruss Significant Signatures in three different inks was his idea because he knew people would chase his cards more than anyone else.

Yeah, different ink... with and without 44 on the auto. It drives my OCD side crazy! How many Reggie auto's do I really need?

As far as this thread... Unobtanium... 2001 SP Legendary Cuts Autographs. I've put together some badass autograph sets but that would be the pinnacle. I know I am talking out both sides of my face here.

One of the best sets ever, IMO, but I'm biased towards the 2001 SP Legendary Cuts for some reason.

Also, I think I'd try for the 1993 Topps Finest Refractors set as well, all PSA 10. Heck, why not make it BGS 10.

Perhaps not large enough to qualify, but for me, the 1997 Topps Finest Gold Embossed Refractor set.

Smack dab in the era of names I grew up with as a kid. While it doesnt have the historical factor many of the vintage sets listed here have, and also possibly has issues with greening.....I think it's because Im drawn to tech cards more than basic cards, and Im a sucker for the snazzy-ness of them. In hand they are much more stunning than online pics, and they check off many of the boxes for card tech in one card: 1. Chromium sort of finish, 2. Refractor (in a neat checkerboard format), 3. Embossed, and 4. Die-cut. I mean heck we're only missing like hologram, acetate, lenticular, and dufex to round out the various card techs.

I also find probability-related stuff very interesting, and when I was a kid I was mesmerized by the staggering 1:1152 pull rate for them. Nowadays in products like flagship topps, it's not uncommon to see cards that are 1:8000 or even like 1:30,000 or whatever, so it doesnt seem so out there now. But back then 1:1152 really stood out.....like a holy grail type thing to get.

I'd probably get back into the 2 modern insert sets I always had a passion for back in the day:
-2001 Team Topps Legends Autos
-2005 Sweet Spot Classic Jumbo Patches

Cost is no concern qualification, I get it. But I'd just throw that money at stuff I'd love to look at every day and say "how can I possibly have this card?"

So my answer is all of the beautiful, bonkers 90s MJ inserts.

I wish it still existed but someone calling themselves Museum of Sports History or something (the acronym was MOSH) had an absolutely incredible 2001 Legendary Cuts set on the PSA registry. They had nearly a complete set including almost all of the single-digit cards. Supposedly they actually were building a real museum somewhere and cards would be a big part of it, and they had several monumental registry sets. But then they disappeared. PSA no longer has a separate entry for the Cuts set, but rolled it into the master set. And I've no idea what happened to the museum.

Actually, there is someone who appears to have completed the 2001 Cuts set save for the George Sisler, which is one of two 1/1s in the set (along with Pete Alexander). That's a huge accomplishment. Aside from the money, it must've taken years and tons of networking.

Wow, and WOW. I did not even know there were 1/1s in that set but should have known. Anyone else have any info on this MOSH collector? Great info, thanks for sharing!
