A year's time worth probably doesn't change much in price, so my Item I would guess is probably $50 to $60 worth. Clearly, I overpaid. It's ok, because it's going to be a personal collection item with my other Gwynn rookie items.
I have overpaid for many items myself and I have gotten steals, it all averages out.

Those ggum patches in Beckett slabs were a short lived thing. The Puckett mem cards have basically 0% chance of being fake, but there might be people faking some big names. I believe BGS had a Bulls/Wizards jersey in slabs, Babe Ruth bat, and a Tiger Woods PGA worn shirt. I would be extremely cautious of these cards.

Mem cards have unfortunately seen a huge decline the last decade. People got sick of nonsense like this to say it was "player worn." Below is Mark Ingram wearing I believe Jeremey Shockey jersey's. I think game-worn jersey's are really cool for the price, but people have lost their faith in these card companies.

I found the catalogue of these GGUM items, using Wayback Machine Internet Archive:

https://web.archive.org/web/20211229...morabilia2.cfm

You're right, there is a Woods shirt, Ruth bat, and Jordan Bulls/Wizards Jerseys, as well as, the Gwynn pants from where my swatch was taken.

Well, at least, there is more information now on these items, but I wish I didn't have to dig for it like that, if only their actual website was still operational.

That is actually cool that they have the game and hit numbers 2958 and 2959 for the pants. Imagine if it was from the game he got his 3000 hit!

Haha, yeah, I was actually thinking the same when I read that. It was so close, and I was like dang it, why couldn't it be the 3,000 hits pants!

Honestly, I would have been even more excited if it was the pants from his 1983 rookie year, or even his 1982 pro debut, but those are probably extremely expensive, so I'm happy with what I got.

Hey thanks for sharing this unique card. I have never seen these before and after seeing the card and reading some google searches, I learned something new.

Also, I don't think you overpaid for this card at all, actually. For any Tony Gwynn collector who has everything out there, there are very rare and unique which is why it went for more than $75 at auction. A fixed price sale over a year ago could have been sold within 5 mins of the seller posting it for sale, with many people bummed they missed out. In 2024, you know there's at least one person out there who wanted it almost as much as you did.

Cool oddball card with an interesting history. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks bro, I really appreciate that explanation. I'm planning to hang on to this item for a long time, so hopefully it grows quite good in value over time. We'll see.

I collect, as much as I am able, cards and photos of Gwynn playing baseball from 1983 and earlier. I also collect other later Gwynn stuff, but I'm trying to focus more on the early years... pro, minors, and college.

Well not sure how sending it through eBay AG would help you in this respect. What are you going to do, send the potential buyer a picture of the email that says it passed authentication. Not like it couldn't be photoshopped and not like PSA/eBay would back it up/verify with the potential/actual buyer....

Ebay AG places a "Void if Damaged" sticker on the back of the slab sleave, as their guarantee that as long as the sticker is not removed, then the inspected item remains authentic and untampered. Here is what it looks like:

Sending to eBay AG was just a possible idea that was brought up earlier. I may or may not pursue something like that in the future. I'll probably just tuck my item the way it is right now in my collection box, and forget about it for a long time.

Oh yeah, duh, forgot about that part. Well you could certainly do a sale to someone local for $250 and basically pay the 13% or so to do a AG, or maybe less if that best offer for less works and keeps it going to AG. If you do it for $100 you are basically paying $13 to do it plus shipping to Santa Ana.....
