They need to do redemptions for game used entire jerseys. They also need to do a meet and greet redemption. I know it would be expensive but they could just do a couple. Also didn't ud do something where you got to go to the card place and pick out and make your own card? Bring something like that back. Or how about redemptions for entire sets of cards (all, base, inserts and most autos).

Panini has done things like that. There was a meet-and-greet redemption inserted into Gold Standard, along with some other really nice prizes along those lines.

pretty sure they did this with fleer legacy back in the day, or some kind of fleer product.

Haven't read through the first page, But I think Card companies will no longer have expiration dates on their Redemptions once people start successfully winning cases in court regarding the expiration dates. Like that guy in the baseball forum who received $$$$$$ after UD didn't fulfill his expired redemption because the judge thought UD was at fault. Forgot the whole details but......yahhhh. Lol
And video cards like the HRX will be produced more often. But I hope panini/UD/Topps take pictures of EVERY SINGLE PATCH/SWATCH CARDS THAT ARE NUMBERED BEFORE THEY'RE PACKED and put them into a database where; if you are ever uncertain of a patch on a card, you can pay a certain amount to have them check if the patch on that serial #'d card matches the one in their database.

Basically, less crap, more quality.
If we get more quality then the price is gonna be higher and the company won't be able to meet their quota on sales. Also you never know which players could be busts or top players. Like Isiah Thomas for the Kings, 60th player is the last round of 2011, compared Greg Oden the 1st pick of the 2007 round ahead of Kevin Durant. Or maybe they might not be that good the 1-2 years but come back and does very well and all of his cards spike like crazy (Linsanity). You just never know.

Not just talking autos though - I'd rather have quality inserts than autos of nobodys who have a miniscule chance of becoming half-decent... if it's a low-end product, then it doesn't need to have everybody in it, as there'll be cards (like Lin) in other stuff. But if I'm buying a low-end box and the cards look rubbish and all I get is a Da'Sean, then I'd be pretty disappointed.

haha yeah as collectors the personalized auto is cool but for people selling...honestly it might work i just thought because they would obviously have to be redemptions so the person with the intent of selling it could sell it to a collector as a redemption before getting it personalized....i dont think its a horrible idea lol....

definitely think there should be more cut autos of deceased players....
Speaking of Magic and Bird autos....one of my favorite cards is my 08/09 Topps Treasury Bird/Magic, and Rose triple auto...bonus is the fact that it's #'d 1/9...Rose's jersey number!!! Bird and Magic are on stickers, but Rose is on card....

- A general increase in supply of inscribed cards, e.g. players signing cards with details of their 'most memorable moment', 'career highlight' or 'greatest game'.

- Increased supply of cut autos of deceased Hall of Fame players (e.g. Bobby McDermott, Ed Macauley, Charles 'Tarzan' Cooper, William 'Pop' Gates, Gus Johnson, Maurice Stokes, etc) as more fans become interested in the history of the sport.

- Due to their unrivalled design, Chronology canvas autos will become the new Precious Metal Gems in terms of hype and increased demand, coupled with relatively limited supply.

- A new ultra high-end product called 'Blast From The Past' (or something similar) featuring buy-back old school RCs autographed by the player in question, akin to 1996 Topps Stars Autographs.

- Reduced supply of small jersey swatch cards, especially of irrelevant players. Instead, card companies will make larger swatches/patches with lower print runs, to increase demand, leading to higher prices.

- A resurgence in cool looking insert cards, leading to an increase in demand amongst younger collectors.

- Significantly higher sale prices of Magic Johnson and Larry Bird autos, especially in high end products, as each player's career and impact on the game becomes more mythical and legendary.
Some good thoughts. I think personalized autos would be too hard to do as they have enough trouble just getting regular redemptions but agree on inscriptions as that's a nice way to make a special auto that hasn't been done so much. I also agree about making better looking inserts to draw in collectors and would add that I hope they don't rehash old ideas unless it's been ten years since they've done it. I think jersey cards are here to stay with many different levels of players because collectors like them and card companies like to make money. I see Magic and Bird holding strong on value but because they are still signing, the supply is pretty strong for a while. I would like to see redemption cards be used like when you put money in a bank. The longer it sits, the more it's worth so the company has to provide extra items for redemptions that sit longer and for replacements, they should do something extra too. I love when Fleer made some special cards that initially only came out as replacements.

If Panini remains the only licensed producer of NBA cards, there will be no future for the basketball card hobby.

As far as personalizations the companies should give the customer the option to add either dear John best wishes Larry Bird or Larry Bird NBA finals MVP. I would also like the card companies to make at least 2 low end products to keep kids and budget minded collectors in the hobby.

i believe panini did that with 09-10 absolute with redemptions of kobe and tyreke's signed ball and jersey's...

would really hope they'll put out more stuff like shoes and such...

(i would greedily hope for some 1/1 game used version )

Ain't that the truth...

As it is now, look at how many less box breaks there are of current basketball vs 3-4 years ago...it is sorry.

If the current state of basketball card hobby stays the same with only Panini, I wonder will high end MJs/UD Products continue to gain value or because of less interest year after year in new products, will the hobby lose collectors and the values will go down.

The card company in question would merely have to ensure that they only promise personalised autographs from key players with whom they have regular contact (i.e. perhaps only those players who are company spokespersons, e.g. Blake Griffin, Kobe Bryant, etc).
