It's still around 2k at /100 copies. Not very many pop up for sale and its his only on card with Peyton. Unitas died shortly after this set came out. IMO this and the Barry Sanders/Walter Payton dual from the same set are 2 of the greatest auto cards ever made.

as a collector i agree with you, as a cowboys fan i think if the murray/smith dual gets made like it should be it will be my ultimate chase card. not a 1k card but still will be an awesome card

This is my only $1,000 card. Frankly, I'm stunned it qualifies, but I guess a second Super Bowl ring will do that for you...

There just isn't the high end in football like there is basketball.

I should make a thread for $500+ cards. Would get much better responses. Then again, I only have one, and it's for sale on eBay at the moment...lol

Prices have come down from the 2k mark, but its good for the ones who collect this set as many younger collectors probably dont know anything about this set and are spending thousands on future, 'investment' players instead.

Yeah, I sold a BGS 9/10 (highest graded) last year for $1500 at auction.

I never get tired of seeing classics like that Ray Lewis (I too am impressed its a $1000 card) and the Payton jersey autos.

It's true that football just doesn't have the insane high end that basketball does...is that because there aren't MEGAULTRASUPERstars like Jordan/Lebron? Or are football collectors less spend-crazy? Or is football just a different beast?

Regardless if the cards are 1000 or more - just sit back and enjoy the show.
