Thanks for all the responses guys. This is exactly what I was wanting to here. A lot of the things I have pictured were mentioned plus a few I hadn't thought of.
Ideally...... The family side will offer your standard dishes (burgers, hand breaded tenderloins, chicken, etc..With a couple steak and seafood selections. High quality food without being over priced. I haven't thought of the "perfect" recipe yet, but "the bigzig" woUld be our signature burger. Bar side will have well trained staff, specialty beers, plenty of tv's, weekly variety of live entertainment. We would do our best to appeal to all sorts of clientele. Ideally I would prefer to just be an owner who checks in on things and mingle with guests making them feel at home. It's a small town so I know a majority of them anyway. Obviously until things get up and running I would be spending a lot of time getting things off the ground. Advertising will be key. Like I mentioned above, it's only a rumor at this point that this location may be going up for sale soon. A decade or so ago it was a really booming place. Then the owner got in trouble with the law (unrelated to the bar). Several owners have come in since, but food quality and entertainment value seem to go farther downhill with every new owner. I really feel I could change that. The hardest part would be startup funds and time considering we still have 3 kids at home a full time job and your typical life activities. I've wanted to own a bar and grill for a while now I just always figured it would be a little later in life. edit: I'm sure I didn't include everything. But that doesn't mean I'm not incorporating it. Just been a looonggg day. Last edited by bigzig; 06-25-2014 at 10:44 PM. |

Love the stat on Bar Rescue that when someone orders food, they stay in your bar on average approx 52 mins longer. That means more drink orders and thus more $$$.

Which side of town? I live in Indy. Feel the southside is really lacking non-chain restaurants.

I'm around 25 miles west of the west side of indy. There are definitely a lot of chains all around Indy. Flashbacks was pretty decent the last time I was over that way. |
